Hi, I just joined today. I’ve had HHD since 1995 and was doing ok until 2018 experiencing continuous cycle of raw flare ups and infections under both breast & groin areas
I have large surface area of flareups and infections under both breast and cannot wear bras nor cami tank tops. Skin so raw and hurts when fabric touches it. What does the group recommends to wear when out in public? Thanks.

Hello there. I've been battling the nefarious HHD since 2008, and I know exactly what you are going through. On my areas of severe flare-ups, I rely on soft gauze to get me through. I usually tape the gauze as gently yet securely as possible over the flared-up area to act as a barrier from potential friction caused by clothes, and also importantly, to absorb oozing and/or odor. Additionally, I keep the gauze and tape with me wherever I go in case I need to change it. There are also hydrogels, hydrocolloids, film and foam dressings to perhaps consider.
Also, I know you cannot wear a bra, but what about a soft cotton bralette? For this area, I think it is all about whether or not you need/prefer to wear a bra, and if so, how supportive it must be. I personally require an underwire no matter how flared-up I am or how much pain I am in, and my goal in life these last 10 years has been to find the softest, most comfortable and supportive bras. No lace, stiff fabrics or elastics, ever. I opt for super smooth and soft satin or sueded-touch, raw-cut fabrics and I have bras in a variety of band and cup sizes because sometimes I need the fit to be looser to not aggravate my skin.
For the groin area, I opt for super smooth, silky, soft fabrics, and I can only, only wear seamless, elastic-free laser cut undergarments in cottons and microfibers.
I'm happy to chat directly if you would like to discuss in greater detail or get some brand recommendations. I hope this was helpful, and even if I didn't offer any new ideas, please know that you are not alone and there are lots of us supporting you from afar.
