worried that I should still be having annual smear tests, but discharged to 3 yearly.

Hi, I am a little confused about conflicting advice I've been given; I had Ledtz treatment with same appointment biopsy in April 2014, I had a follow up smear test at the hospital clinic 6 months later, and following this was sent a letter discharging me back to my GP 3 yearly screening programme. when I recently re-read the leaflet (written by the department who performed the procedure/discharged me) to see when my 3 yearly test is due it says I should have been having yearly smear tests for 10 years following treatment. When should I be having a test? Should I book as soon as possible, or wait till the 3 years? Is there any reason I might have been discharged back to 3 yearly rather than annually? (My original test results were CIN III).

Thanks

Hi,

We agree it can be confusing when you have conflicting information. We think however, that by what you've mentioned that you're on the correct follow-up pathway of 3-yearly cervical screenings.

It just appears that the leaflet you were given may have been out-of-date, so we would suggest contacting the department who gave you the leaflet and performed your Ledtz procedure just to be sure.

We hope this helps and clears up any confusion.

Best wishes,

Team Eve
