I get symptoms - so you might want to use my experience to let you know you might be doing yourself silent damage. However, many sources say it is all rubbish, that cosmetics can't damage your gut. Be glad you have got such an alert doctor!
Thanks, I think I will cut it out to be on the sure side.
Well, unless you eat it, its unlikely to cause problems as the coeliac reaction takes place in the lower gut, meaning it has to be eaten. I'm not aware of any way in which products applied to the skin could pass through the skin, into the blood and then out into the intestines...
Having said that, most coeliacs have compromised immune systems and very likely could have allergies to things - so you might get an allergic reaction but this is a totally different mechanism than coeliac.
Ultimately, listen to your body! If you don't feel well, stop using it and see if you get better. If you get no reaction its probably not doing any harm.
Personally I can't use such products....it took me ages to associate the shampoo and hair spray I was using with an itchy flaking scalp and bizarre rash behind my ears. Strangely I find that I am usually okay with cheaper cosmetics than the more expensive ones. I always check the ingredients!
