Hi just wondering can you have salted peanuts as a coeliac x
Peanuts : Hi just wondering can you... - Gluten Free Guerr...
Peanuts
Generally speaking, yes.
Unless there has been cross contamination at the factory level, you can have them. Fortunately this isn’t something that I’ve encountered very often.
Yes ordinary salted peanuts should be fine - enjoy, but check dry roast or any with coatings as these may have gluten
I wouldn't risk 'should' as an option. Always do specific research and checks. 'Should' is the gamble option and does not work out well.
As one who is Celiac with it's accompanying skin disorder, Dermatitis Herpetiformis, I would say NO! Those of us affected with DH are not only sensitive to gluten, but also iodine. My husband buys peanuts for making peanut butter, but has recently switched to unsalted peanuts, because I was having DH breakouts. He now adds Himalayan salt and my DH has improved. Keep in mind most salt used by the food industry is iodized salt.
Yes, and No. I can't eat any nuts from any processed sources at this stage, so it's a no from me on the risk of cross contamination. In the wider sense, one of the most popular brands of salted nuts is KP and they label their salted peanuts as have gluten cross contamination risk. So, like always, probably best to check with the manufacturer first.
Depends on the brand and always check with the manufacturer. That is standard advice across the board and will not differ from product to product. The actual food item is irrelevant (beyond grains) - it's the cross contamination of the production line and the trace gluten that may be in ingredients.
