I suffered with Gallstones last year and came here looking for comments, but found none.
I just wondered if anyone wants to share experiences?
I have survived a year now, since I was supposed to have the op, without attack.

Hi Lisa, if you want to search the archives just type say ''gallstones'' into the box at the top right hand side where it says "Search HealthUnlocked".
I think it's a really important to ask pertinent questions regardless of what's in the archives anyway for many reasons. But primarily because new and different answers come up each time, which in turn improves the archives as a reference. So until other members answer you, here's a link to a couple of past posts:

And just being nosey, by the operation do you mean to have your gall bladder removed?
Awwww you're a star! Thank you, and no... I've managed my diet so well since that I was allowed, at first, to delay the date and eventually to cancel it altogether.
I had mine removed 5 years ago as everything I ate caused me so much pain that my quality of life was not good. Even lettuce caused me pain! I ended up not eating much and losing weight. I had my gallbladder removed and felt better afterwards. It was worth it for me. I would have preferred not to have it removed but life was 100% better after!
Hi Lisa,
I have gluten intollerance and about 1 year after that diagnosis I started having gallstone pain/attacks. Without any quedtion they removed my gallbladder. I have had more issues ever since
If you can manage without the op and your consultant is happy with it then do not go ahead. They never told me that there is a risk of bile salt diarreah. For months I couldnt hold any food and lost 2 stone. Sorry to be graphic but food went straight through me but because it gave the same affect as being glutened they suspected another food intollerance.
In conclusion I now have to have daily medication to control the bile. Basically although you dont NEED your gallbladder is does have a job to do. It controls the release of bile...without it you have a constant stream of bile into your gut. My sensitive gut couldnt handle it.
On the other hand if you go ahead and start having problems make sure you get your doctors to consider Bile Salt issues. Its not overly common and they took ages to work it out with me.
Hope I havent put you off too much but I wish I had known before. It ruined my social life for months as I couldnt be away from the loo, and even had accidents Id actually say it has been worse than being glutened for me.
Jen x
