Going gluten free

My daughter has been showing sings of an allergy. Im assuming it is a gluten issue. She has been eating a lot of breads and rolls the last two days ,and yesterday she had pink raised bumps all over her body. Im trying to cut the gluten and it is going to be tough. How do I start? Is there a book I can follow for diet and whatnot?

You don't say how long your daughter has had a problem or how old she is. It is a big thing to exclude something from your diet, especially wheat/gluten.

Has she had any testing or diagnosis? Her GP is probably the best person to ask for advice in the first place.

definitely, take her to the GP. there's no point eliminating gluten if there is no need.

See Mrs Pepperpot and beau_alicia's advice above ...would advise you don't put her on a GF diet before seeing your GP. It's best to get her assessed while she's still eating gluten so that a blood test at least might show what the problem is. Take her to see the doc asap and explain why you think gluten might be the issue then go from there.

My son has pink raised bumps at the moment along with a number of other children at school, dr told us it's viral. My son is a coeliac and if he eats a small amount of gluten he gets stomach cramps and diarhoea, he has never had an allergy type rash caused by gluten neither have I or my other son - we're coeliac too. My friend has a lactose allergy, again it's proliferates in her stomach not on her skin. I guess what I'm saying is the same as everyone else, go to the gp, it's probably more likely to be an external factor or the yeast or preservatives in the bread than gluten if it's causing a histamine response, (coeliac is an immune response) You shouldn't exclude gluten until you have seen a gp for two reasons 1 they can't test for it unless it's still being ingested and 2 there is no point trying to exclude gluten if you don't need to or without some proper guidance so you know what you are doing! Good luck

I agree with the others. I would take her to the doctor, as he is the only one to give a definite diagnosis. Good luck
