Hi,

Personally I haven't, but I did once work for a guy who swore by several teaspoons of good quality cider vinegar mixed with a teaspoon full of local honey every day. He then added warm water and drunk it like a fruit tea.

He said it was good for his health but unfortunately I can't remember exactly why he took it. I think one of his reasons was for his arthritis.

He didn't do too bad on it – he drunk it for many years and lived until he was 95 years old!

Hi Maryelle - I quite often use Apple Cider Vinegar diluted in water as a 'tonic' (ie if I've got an upset stomach, or want a 'pick-me-up'/'cleansing' kind of drink. I also very often use Apple Cider Vinegar in salad dressings. I find it very refreshing. As to whether it actually helps for relief from being glutened/IBS - I couldn't possibly say, but it seems to have a psychologically beneficial effect. Then again, I quite like the flavour and so enjoy drinking it...

Hi I've had trouble recently gluten must have sneaked in when

I wasn't looking! Made my IBS worse and ended up at drs with acid reflux too! Researched myself and found a couple of websites which suggested apple cider vinegar may help. Below is a quote I found which may also explain how through aiding digestion acv could aid IBS?

- Apple Cider Vinegar – Apple cider vinegar (ACV) helps to prevent and relieve acid reflux symptoms such as heartburn. ACV works by mimicking the acid level of the stomach, which helps you to properly digest food. ACV can provide relief from the burning sensation of heartburn, and may even help to alleviate nausea. As a preventative try taking ACV before meals and when suffering an acute attack of heartburn. ACV is available in tablet and liquid form.

I now take 2 teaspoons every morning in a super foods smoothie!

This is great thank you, I need something to aid in digestion as I am not digesting food properly and so losing too much weight.

I find a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, a good dollop of honey and warm water a very soothing start to the day if my digestion is disturbed. And you are right - it is said to be very good for arthritis too.

If you look at some of the most recent studies into IBS they say that neither honey nor cider vinegar are beneficial (FODMAPS). I am also one of those malnourished through very late diagnosis. Ask your gastro for a pancreatic elastase test (via stool sample). It is the de facto way of testing for lack of enzymes.
