Hi, am trying to lose some weight and looking for an alternative to Ryvita, Gluten Free of course. Any help would be appreciated.
Ryvita Replacement: Hi, am trying to... - Gluten Free Guerr...
Ryvita Replacement
I use rice cakes low salt low fat version and gluten free
Just put them on my shopping list to try, thanks Mia...
If you want to lose weight I would advise avoiding rice cakes, it doesn't matter whether they are low fat or not because they have a high GI. You need to try to avoid processed carbs if you can and find something with more fibre in. I don't know if there is a biscuit type food that would work.
I like the ds crispbreads, crumbles do nice cracker biscuits but are a bit too moreish, and if you can have oats then nairns gf oatcakes are good

Nains also do a G/F cheese oatcake but they are a bit moreish. it is hard to substitute bread and to loose weight I know, good luck and if you find the answer let me know first.x
Hi Hollyberry,
There isn't a direct GF replacement for Ryvita. However some of the GF crispbreads are rather good, if a little on the expensive side.
Personally I found Barkat Matzo crackers and DS herb crackers to be a little more filling. I also have to admit that I enjoy eating rice cakes.
I opened a box of Orgran peppercorn deli crackers for the first time the other day. They were soo good I had to check the box again to see if they were actually gluten-free! They went down deliciously with pâté and dairy free cheese. Again not cheap but worth it in my opinion for the taste.
I am not sure how good any of these would be when trying to lose weight. Best of luck with your aim, I hope you find a solution that enables you to succeed.
Hi Hollyberry, I don't know about you, but I think rice cakes are the pits! I have been eating corn thins which have a much nicer flavour. They do have fibre in them too.
If you can get prescription food' then try Glutafin mini crackers and high fibre ones. I take these to work to have mid-morning with cheese, and find the are enough til I get home at 1.30pm and have a light lunch. My problem is that I can't put weight on so have to eat a bit extra. (no. thinner is not always good) all the best
Me again! Forgot to add that if you were diagnosed coeliac, sign up to Glutafiun and Juvela website, and they will send a hamper for you to sample their good so you can make you mind up
Hi all, many thanks for all your help, I am diagnosed, and a member of the Coeliac Society, hence call Juvela and Glutefen, who are going to send samples, if not allready done so, will try all of your suggestions as I have not bothered with crackers before.. .....
