I am a coeliac and have DH I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and put on aladrenic acid is this safe to take with my condition ?

I don't think there are any contraindications specifically. Alendronic acid is poorly absorbed so should be taken strictly according to the patient information sheet.

It can cause irritation of the oesophagus.

I have taken alendronic acid for two years now following diagnosis of CD and osteoporosis. As long as you follow the "keeping upright" instructions, no side effects - at least on my part - at all.

i have taken it for 8 yrs now and was diagnosed celiec 2yrs ago and have no side affect i 2 have ostaropes gl

The advice of keeping upright is sensible...plus weight bearing exercise..and eating well.

If this keeps just one of you from breaking a bone..then its worth it.

I have never been right since breaking tib, fib and ankle in 2005.

Yes, this does apply to both the guys as well as the ladies....

Thank you Apricot, I joined the osteoporosis society yesterday. I have some swelling in my joints since I have taken aladronic acid. It's a little scary .
