Hi , I have just had my second eye stent operation after being diagnosed with glaucoma around 10 years ago. I stopped responding to drops and my pressures had been increasing. Has anyone else had eye stents and what should I expect long term?

eye stents

I have stents in both eyes for similar reason. I have found my pressures have stayed down since ...they had gone up into high 20's and dropped into high teens pretty quickly ...and gradually lowered over the years...regularly 12/14 now . I was also told to continue to use Ganfort Eye drops each night as well...and have never beem told to stop that at annual checkups.....I may ask that question specifically when I next go in June this year!
recently had eye stents in both eyes along with cataract surgery
I have Normal tension glaucoma
I’m currently waiting for my follow up appointment so am hoping things have settled and there is no further progression

Hello. A large study showed that those who have had the iStent can expect about a 20% reduction in their eye pressure. Two thirds of those who took part in the study were still medication free after 3 years. Everyone responds differently to glaucoma treatments, so the success of your surgery can also depend on other factors, such as how high the pressure was before the surgery. Unfortunately there is no telling how well this will work for you long term, but be sure to keep attending your appointments so your consultant can monitor your progress.
