Has anyone with Glaucoma taken Hydroxychloroquine? I have read that it can affect the eyes. My consultant wasn’t very concerned when I asked about it and the Macular society’s leaflet suggests that short term use is ok. But I am still quite wary and would welcome any experience.

Hydroxychloroquine

Hi I took this for rather a long time years ago. It was supposed to help with fybromyalgia. I eventually stopped all medication because I was worried about side effects plus nothing helped.Three years ago I was diagnosed with glycoma in both eyes, I did question about passed meds but true to form it was brushed under the table. Sorry this doesn't really help you much but I would also be interested in any other replies. Best wishes

Hi. If I understand correctly, ocular problems resulting from taking hydroxychloroquine are rare, especially when taken at the proper/advise dosage. If you hadn't already done so I would have advised to make your consultant aware so they can monitor you. Best wishes.
