Recently I asked for advice on the visual field test as part of my DVLA application for renewal of my licence. I was very anxious about it and appreciated the advice and understanding of others. I went to Specsavers for a practice and only made one error. Two weeks later during the actual test at the same branch I made six errors and was very concerned about that. However, I've just read on the DVLA website that my licence has been renewed. What a relief! I thought it might reassure others that you don't need a perfect score. I also learned that I do better on the Henson machine than the Humphrey. I tried it after I'd done the DVLA test in case I was required to do a retest. Good luck to anyone facing the experience in future.

Thank you for those encouraging words. I have just had my 2nd Trab and will have to take my DVLA test in June before birthday but will probably need new prescription varifocals before then but will have to wait until end of May to allow time after my trab op. I feel a bit stressed at the race to get the glasses before the test but feel I need all the help I can get to do the dreaded test! As with everyone doing the test to fail and not be able to drive would be devasting. I just wish given the importance of the test that it could be taken in a quieter place rather than a busy Specsavers store. Good luck to everyone with a future DVLA test.
You make a good point there to look on the DVLA website to see if your licence has been renewed. It can take some time after the approval to recieve the licence in the post. I looked last Friday an saw a positive result. We will see how many days it will be to recieve it in the post. But I am no longer a worried bunny. Can I have some more carrots. Please
