I was originally on Fixaprost but my Opthalmologist took me off them n September because I had dizzy spells and breathing problems. S8nce I have been taking Monoprost the dizziness is less often but it is still there at least once or twice a day.
I saw the Opthalmologist in December and my readings were 13 and 14 when they had previously been 24 and 25 before medication. So they are working but when I asked about the dizziness he said as long as I wasn't having the breathing problems that was nothing to worry about.
I am desperately trying to get back to fitness but I can't run, play tennis or do anything that involves moving faster or with motored effort than a brisk walk because it makes me dizzy. As I said, even general day to day stuff causes dizziness a couple or more times a day.
I am due to have field tests again in March and then see him again. Is it worth asking if there are drops that don't cause dizziness?
Or do I really need to just put up with this?

Hello Costadelsol, Your dizziness might not be caused by eye drops. I am also on Monopost, once a day and Cosopt, twice daily. The only reaction I’ve had is from stinging eyes after using the Cosopt. With regards your dizziness - how is your blood pressure? I believe low bp can cause dizziness, so if you haven’t already, it might be worth getting it checked. On a lighter note, whereabouts in Spain do you live? I am quite envious! x
I have had low blood pressure all my life, no ill effects until now. Maybe I will get an appointment with a general doctor to check it. I guess it may be a coincidence but I wondered how long it takes for the beta blockers effects to abate.
I had new glasses in July, that's when the pressure was taken. They were fine, but 6 months later my mud and long vision with my glasses on (varifocals) is blurry. I can't afford another set of new glasses 😫
Hello again! I can’t say I have noticed any changes. I know after putting in dry eye drops, my vision usually seems a bit sharper. I have always been terribly short-sighted and had cataract operations in 2010 whereby the surgeon fitted me with distance lenses. It was great to be able to wake up and see the clock after all those years of blurriness! I need glasses for reading but just buy cheapo ones from Amazon, usually +2 or +2.5. Do you find your vision is clearer when in the sunshine? I know you will need sunglasses, but in general, do things seem “sharper”?
I too have had side effects with monopost Sinus problems with headache ear pressure and neck and pains in my shoulders..plus dizziness and wheezing .. Ian taking Lotacryn preservative free now the side effects have gone …I thought I m not putting up with all this maybe ask for tgem give them a ago ..
Since being on Monopost I’ve been getting terrible sinus problems, particularly over my left brow. I’ve tried a variety of antihistamines, and phenylphrine, both of which help, so I’d put it down to allergies, but am now wondering if it’s caused by the drops. But I can’t keep taking antihistamines or phenylphrine, so it would be helpful to know.
they are lantanoprost but the brand name makes a difference to who makes them they must have something added .. on reading the ingredient on both boxes they have different make up in them …I have tested both against each other and and yeah it does.seem strange but all I can say they affecting me in a different ways .. why I have no idea .. 🤷♀️
I’m four months post op for trab surgery and I’ve started having dizziness this week I can’t do any press ups or even lag on the floor to do sit up as I go really dizzy when I get up. I didn’t have it so much before my surgery . I had a look on line and it said that by having glaucoma you will get dizzy episodes. I’m hoping this is the case as I’m back at the hospital in March for my three monthly check up. I think it is wise to tell the consultant when you are at the hospital. It is horrible and I hope you feel better soon
I had Preserflo Microshunt surgery in both eyes last year and have suffered from dizziness since. It’s awful isn’t it? I’m 47 and having to do everything at a slow pace. I’m currently working from home and don’t feel safe to drive. It’s so frustrating. I’m currently undergoing balance testing with a private specialist. Looks like the issue relates to my left ear. My eye consultant says it’s unrelated whereas the balance specialist is yet to decide (awaiting MRI results). Some research suggests there is a link between glaucoma and balance conditions like Ménière’s disease, but with the two disciplines typically working separately, it’s hard to draw conclusions. I think it’s too much of a coincidence . I’ll keep this group updated. I wish you the best with it all.
