alergic reaction on drops
Hello,
I recently had an allergic reaction to Brimonidine. It started after about 6 months. A locum Ophalmologist put me on it, saying it was to try and preserve the optic nerve. I was supposed to have a follow up appointment after 3-4 months. However this didn’t happen, and I was forced to go private again. The Ophthalmologist told me to stop the drops immediately, as the Brimonidine was causing the r edness and soreness in my eyes. He also said that he did not like Brimonidine, and said it was a dirty drug. I also take Brinzolamide and Ganfort. In his opinion 3 different types of drops were too much. Also my pressures had risen 18, they were previously 14, and 15. I am now looking at the possibility of having a Trabeculectomy in my right eye. I blame this on the Brimonidine.
Tnx for reply 🙂To know that you not alone in this means a lot! I have four drops in right eye! Cosopt, xalatan and brimondine tartat. Cosopt for six years and everthing ok, xalatan for 2.5 with some issues about dark circules around eyes, and litlle redness, but tolerable. Brimondine for 10-11 months, and some strange skin issues, wich I never have. Nothing exactly in eye but neck and legs. I m thinkig about cataract surgery wich is suitble for mu type glaucoma ( narrow angle). Four drops in one eye five time a day is to much. Hope we find best solution with minimum drops!
