So ..... acting in accordance with the instructions on my eye clinic appointment letter to call the department to rearrange if I'm coughing a lung up, I get a very snippy receptionist who advised me this would be the last time I could rearrange as I'd already done it once! I'm sorry! So I called to rearrange the first one as I already had another appointment at that time and this time she could clearly hear I was unwell! What if I'm unwell for the next one? Do I just not get another appointment? I can see the point if I was a habitual no-show but I don't think I've ever even changed an appointment before in all the 6 years I've been attending the eye clinic!
I'm fuming, especially as my appointments have been later than the recommended recall times these past few years! I need these regular checks as we all know glaucoma has no symptoms, so I could be losing vision and not know it!

Hello there. I'm really sorry that you feel like this and had this experience after calling the receptionist to reschedule. There is nothing that you can do if you are unwell, and best that you did reschedule the appointment, so you did the right thing. Should you need to reschedule again due to illness or another reason, then you should do. The best you can do is to explain it to the receptionist the next time you call them. If they do not issue you another appointment, give PALS a call to escalate your issue with them, but hopefully it won't come to that.
Only just seen this but wanted to say I'd be angry too!
It's one thing them making threats if people have simply not turned up for appointments but, especially if it's a time/date they've picked, there's a chance you may be ill, on holiday - whatever.
I hope you've challenged it. It sounds like a receptionist getting a little above themselves.
