ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE UK
You might be eligible for attendance allowance. There is nothing to stop you from applying and then your application will be assessed and will either be agreed or rejected. If it’s rejected there’s nothing to stop you applying again in the future if your condition worsens.
Hello. It does depend on how the glaucoma has affected your vision eg have you been registered with Sight Impairment or Severe Sight Impairment. It depends on how it is affecting you and your daily living. Having glaucoma doesn't qualify for benefits as such. However, there may be other benefits you may be entitled to and it is always worth looking into this.
Hi. A good place to to start is the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB). They have staff who specialise in giving advice on benefits. Attendance Allowance is based on how your daily activities are affected and what help you need rather than the actual illness or disability you have. Your savings and income do not affect it. If you are on a low income you may qualify for Pension Credit which is based on what income and savings you have and is not just for people with an illness or disability. There may be other benefits you can claim from the local authority like Housing Benefit or help with Council Tax etc.
