I take one tablet 500 mg per day. Same brand - as recommended by my opthalmist. Intial outlay seems a lot but when you think you get 6 months supply they are very reasonable.

For a few quid and the belief that it has potential benefits to us I think it’s a no brainier. I take 1500mg a day. The seminar on you tube mentions greater than 1g per day if you can manage it

I understand there is a clinical trial going on but there aren't any published results of the findings yet. Should we really be taking it? Do we not need results first? Could do you more harm than good.

there are many qualified personnel that suggest taking it. There is also a doctor on the glaucoma Uk you tube video that recommends taking 1g +.

I think the key thing is not to be deficient in it because it’s used by the optic nerve cells to generate energy (or something like that). I just take 500mg a day as well and waiting for the research to be published. I’ve read taking it in higher dosage may be beneficial for some people but not all, but I don’t think it would do any harm, even taking it over the longer term.

The comments to date are all in favour of high dose Nicotinamide. High dose is anything over the recommended daily intake. So in the interest of maintaining a balanced debate on the topic of taking Nicotinamide at higher than recommended does here is some research on the potential negative ( and benefits) from 2020:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

And here’s a US site that states potential risk and benefit in a form easier to understand for the lay person:

mountsinai.org/health-libra...

So I think the recommendation would be you take high doses at your own risk. Some consider that nothing we do in this world is completely without risk, however it is useful to arm yourself with all the information available. Some have also suggested that their eye consultant has said take Nicotinamide, however I would consider that your consultants are primarily treating your eye condition, not your whole body holistically - that is a role better fulfilled by your GP. A very well respected consultant on a Glaucoma UK video recommended that you consult with your GP before taking it.

I note that many Nicotinamide trials test liver function, blood pressure etc to ensure the participant is not suffering adverse side effects. If you are taking Nicotinamide in high doses without advice of your GP then I would pay attention to the list of conditions it could make worse namely blood clotting issues, liver issues, diabetes, blood pressure etc.

Anyway I hope the attached links are of interest. Nicotinamide is clearly a powerful vitamin with lots of potential.

Good luck to those of you taking high does Nicotinamide and I do hope you see improvement in your glaucoma and of course, that you don’t have any health issues when taking it. 👍🏻
