simultaneous SLT’s?

I have an slt scheduled for Friday on my right eye followed by one on my left 5 weeks later. Normally, my dr does them 2 weeks apart but is really busy. My question is whether they do both eyes on the same day in the UK? It sounds like a low risk procedure. My pressure has been 27-29 with three types drops so I am eager to get them done. Many thanks.

Hi I had the slt on both eyes at the same appointment without any issues. I have ntg so my pressures at the beginning were19-22

6 weeks after the slt, eye pressure 14-15

I was hoping the laser would be enough, but unfortunately I still need to take drops .

Good luck

I also have had this done fo 2nd time earlier this year. (Was first diagnosed 10 years ago)After Covid restrictions with no appointments for nearly 2 years, consultant was concerned that my pressures had risen. So he personally did both eyes at my appointment. Painless and no after effects. 6 weeks laters pressures dropped to satisfactory levels.

Hi. I only had it in my right eye first. My consultant suggested that as it’s only 70% effective he didn’t want me to pay for both (I went private) in case it didn’t work. As it happens, it didn’t work. So maybe that’s the reasoning given US medical care is all private?

I had both eyes done at the same appointment in June. No special extra drops prescribed and 6 weeks later, my pressures were 10 (right) & 12 (left) instead of 16 (both). It might not seem like a massive improvement, but I was first diagnosed 15 years ago and I am hoping I have a few more years in front of me, so every little helps! Best of luck, hope you have great results from the procedure!

Hello Floaters,

It is preferred that SLT is done on both eyes at the same appointments, but if the person is nervous, it may be suggested that they are done on seperately
