I am 31 and was diagnosed with glaucoma 1 month ago. Ever since then I have been on Monopost glaucoma drops once a day. This week, I have noticed my left eyelid has been twitching at random points throughout the day. It doesn't hurt, it's just a bit annoying. Do you think this is normal or should I be contacting the eye hospital to tell them?
Thank you for any advice your can give me, I really appreciate it.

Hi Mimesy! It doesn’t sound like anything to worry about to me. But if you have any symptoms you are concerned about you can could call Glaucoma Uk telephone helpline and speak to someone for advice. Glaucoma UK are fantastic and they will also direct you to trusted websites with more info about glaucoma and what signs should cause concern and when to maybe contact your consultants secretary. Try to avoid too much googling as there’s a lot of misinformation out there. Let us know how you get on. We’ve all been where you are now and we do understand how frightening a new glaucoma diagnosis can be. 👍🏻
It is possible you have low magnesium levels. Magnesium helps muscles relax and one of the first signs of low levels can be muscle twitches, particularly the eyes. It is believed that much of the population may have lower than ideal magnesium levels due to modern farming methods.
You could try a supplement, or what I do is ensure I consume some magnesium rich foods everyday (seeds, nuts, beans, dark chocolate), and see if it fixes the problem within a few days.
Hi Mimesy. That sounds so unsettling and annoying. I had exactly the same twitching thoughout the day for weeks a few months ago and was really worried about that (and it was very annoying) I told both my opticians and my doctor at my appointment and they both reassured me it is usually due to stress/ tiredness. The doctor said they could offer Botox if the problem persists. I am not sure about that. But luckily it miraculously went away after a few weeks. Hopefully yours would settle soon too!
Is your eyelid still twitching, I came across an interesting video from Dr Eric Berg, That is good to see: About lack of electrolytes, that creates muscle twitching: youtube.com/watch?v=TI39SNP...
