Hi , I'm a member of the charity's Exec Committee ( its trustees) and I'll be blogging from time to time about what we do and how you might like to get involved.
Hope you all have your raffle tickets safely and are selling away. We would love to send you more or you can buy online. In addition to the big cash prizes, one of the things we do is approach companies to donate prizes. It can be soul destroying. Many don't reply at all or the big companies have significant partnerships with big charities so do no not donate to raffles etc. then you get the wonderful people who reply generously and quickly and wish us well. Oliver has just told me that the lovely husband and wife team lucas and hayley at alphabetbags.com have sent FIVE of their gorgeous bags as prizes. Do check their site. They have some fun designs. Abel & cole are donating an organic veg delivery and the Directors of Hall & Woodhouse have donated £50 vouchers for use in any one of their very fine pubs ( I can testify how yummy their pub restaurants are!)
If you work for a company that might donate (or are a very good customer!) Please let us know. We can contact on your behalf. Remember all our work relies on donation income.

Still trying to source some great prizes for us in addition to the big cash prizes! So great when companies respond positively to us. we are all getting rumbling tummies in the GBSS office as the lovely folk at Higgity pies have donated along with the super artisan chocolate makers at cocoaloco.co.uk and some vouchers for Cook! The gourmet freezer people......
Well it's tough out there but there's still some super companies out there who support. Very common for companies to say they only now support one big charity or local projects. Remember if you're organising an event to contact local attractions or manufacturers and explain local link!
Anyhow some interesting prizes on way from RedSpottedHanky for £50 worth of travel, a years membership of Tastecard and a wonderful new idea which really appealed to us in the office thespicery.com have donated a gift subscription to their spice boxes. Have a peak at their gift boxes..lovely stocking presents for foodies and students who need encouragement/ inspiration.

Ah well cold wet day, but super call from Leon Restaurants supporting the GBSS annual raffle with vouchers......Marie ( our fundraising guru in the GBSS office) and I are getting seriously hungry with all these foodie prizes....did we mention Gu puds as well.
Please sell your tickets. Amazing prizes ( including big cash ones ) and you won't find a better cause this Christmas. Let the office know if you need more tickets!
