I found this article which described inverted hallucinations. I was researching upside down vision and hallucinations or them individually. But as I was talking to my son about when they had stopped (for my diary) he reiterated that they happen together (I get confused).
Mindlessness is mindfulness at a low score (almost the reverse). Yet I found his imaginative technique was more fantasy (not sure if it was something he learn't from the internet, the Mindfulness industry has I believe been dubbed McMindfulness).
True mindfulness is being in the moment and breathing, not worrying about the past or thinking about the future. It also makes me think of the 5,4,3,2,1 grounding technique.
I will post the article below but this was the conclusion:
"In conclusion, a human mind is a wandering mind, and a wandering mind is an unhappy mind. The ability to think about what is not happening is a cognitive achievement that comes at an emotional cost."
The article:
A Wandering Mind Is an Unhappy Mind. Matthew A. Killingsworth* and Daniel T. Gilbert - you need to google it and you will see a free pdf as its a Harvard Education file (otherwise behind a paid Science Subscription).
First things first, set a regular technology detox for us both and to get outside and spend more time in the here and now.
