As far as I can tell, a Fibromyalgia dx was/is often a gateway diagnosis to a FND dx which has always felt inappropriate to me since the tests for FND (eg the Hoover's sign etc) are not totally applicable to p/w Fibromyalgia and since this condition mostly impacts women. Plus I am sick to death of women - and men - being labelled as having mental health disorders via a FND dx. Anyhoo, this article bit.ly/3CrmbYy (you may need to copy and paste the link into a browser, if it doesn't go live here) looks at grey matter in the brain. It is a little complicated but the good people at Patient Worthy (who highlighted this research on fb) do a good plain English summary at the end, bless them.

alongside you on the rage that the use of the ‘disorder’ term. I’m not exactly sure why it bothers me so… but it really does.
Isn't that part of what FND stands for. To me, disorder is softer than disability.
