hi , I too lost my voice while talking lasted five days approx saw the GP and they put me on a 2 week wait with Guys cancer centre (looking for cancer) all clear. lasted for a month slowly getting back to normal. it was frustrating as people could not hear me properly but improved. First time they had no answers, but found emphysema (4 holes in top of lung) so referred to chest clinic. second time only lasted two days without a voice sent to ENT to check my throat seemed clear but found an oversized base of tongue. third and forth time only lasted 2-6 hrs but by that time i had been diagnosed with GORD (reflux) and one theory is that the acid i was bringing up was hitting my vocal cords and knocking out my voice (the acid has already taken out my top teeth, lost 6 in six months had to have the rest pulled). the reflux is now under control so less acid no voice loss(touch wood). I suppose it depends on your circumstance and any under lying health issues. I had skin cancer years ago so my voice loss was deemed a red flag. I now have FND,COPD,GORD and OA of the spine. So the key is to talk to the GP (doctor) to get referrals to various depts. good luck hope you find the help you need.
This happens to me on a regular basis. It can vary in length but I am finding now that my chest and lungs hurt / burn when I breath. When I spoke in the past to my consultant she told me this is a trauma response, I am due to see her again on the 27th Feb as it is getting worse. It can happen with or without a non epileptic seizure
