Hi all. Just wanted to ask FND sufferers how does your body react to alcohol? I'm not diagnosed but since I had a major neurological reaction to covid Vax my body cannot tolerate alcohol

I have fibromyalgia and fnd and alcohol affects me a great deal so I don’t really drink or if I have a drink it’s one and that’s it

Does it put you in a flare? I'm starting to suffer for days after having a social drink. It seems it's just not worth it 🙁

Hi Denise I found with the social drinking that if you cut down your intake from your old normal amount to adjust to your new normal this may help.this will take some hard core experiments and sessions to find it,but will make it nicer in the end.Try and in brace your new normal, mentality and physically and this will help you a great deal.

Good advice as I have been living my life as I was before my Vax induced condition..I'm abstaining from alcohol for a while, I feel weak and fatigued for a few days after drinking but I won't give it up altogether just be more sensible 🙂

That sounds about right this whole fnd thing I think is based around sensory overload of the brain,so if you can find your new normal without going mad at it you can continue to enjoy and embrace life best you can,and hopefully not turn into mrs meldrew or woo is me that could end up a right nightmare.I would also consider counciling as sometimes that can be a way of helping with events and symptoms.

It seems my reaction to alcohol (and medical marijuana for that matter) has changed. It seems on days where my symptoms are worse, alcohol has less of an effect on me. Normally I get buzzed easily after 2 beers, but I’ve had as many as 6 without feeling any effects. Incidentally, I’ve had more symptoms and with longer duration since having had the covid vaccine. I’m not an anti vaxer, but can’t help notice the correlation. I only got it because my job mandated it and I was also afraid of long covid. Well, wouldn’t you know it, I’ve not had covid, but FND symptoms overlap quite a bit with long covid, so here I am!

I think that alcohol actually helps me walk a bit better when I've had drinks. Mine FMD is with walking/standing. I have back pain that makes all of it worse, which is why I think the alcohol helps in my case. Interesting question though. I was just recently diagnosed, so I just assumed all of my walking/standing issues were related to pain and that the less pain, the easier it was to control my body. Thoughts?

Not sure what to say about this. How bad is the back pain? So theres no physical damage to your back or was this never checked? When I get the weakness I have a dull back ache across the middle of my back and sometimes I get a weird feeling a cross my shoulders. Numbness and tingling in my right leg which feels weak also. Funnily enough mine improves if I drink alcohol temporarily

Hi if you are reacting to alcohol, be careful of all foods and other products containing Ethanol.

I have always reacted to these, but worse since FND kicked off. Essentially they are alcohol based and it is surprising how many products are out there, even the humble hand sanitizers!

Don't forget ALL Covid jabs work by changing the Thyroid T-Cells, so it maybe your Thyroid is a bit out of sync for a while and that means your metabolism - it may well calm down over the year.

Look for the calm in the Storm!

Thanks for the info. I didn't realise the vax affected the thyroid but yes makes sense with how I have been. Had various blood tests all fine. I have become intolerant to many things but this may be due to the menopause too

I stopped drinking alcohol 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with FND. As it stands, I can Now get tipsy from half a can of beer. No point in my drinking unless a drink is non-alcoholic.
