I have a granddaughter who is 13 and has been diagnosed with FND 2 years ago. We have met with numerous Doctors, Neurologists, Child Psychiatrists, experimented with Chiropractors, Brain Balancing, EMDR, and healers to no avail. She is confined to a wheelchair, non-verbal, has seizures and black-outs, depressed and is in constant pain on the left side of her neck and shoulder. She began a turn-around during this last summer, riding horses (before she became unable to walk), was engaging with ranch people, cleaning horse stalls for fun, and then WHAM, relapsed to this current state. Is anyone aware of an inpatient facility to treat this disorder for adolescents?

FND treatment for adolescents
Sorry to hear this, it must be so worrying for her and the rest of the family.
I'm not sure where you're based but Great Ormond Street hospital for children in London have a treatment centre for young people.
Maybe someone with more experience of this will respond soon.
Hope you find the support she needs soon x
Something triggered her could have been traumatic but as an FND adult I get it. Part of the triggering is anxiety of health and fear of a trigger. I can become non-verbal as well. What has started working for me was botox shots for the muscular issues and headaches. I was also helped by my Dr. prescriptions and pin management. The day they added Cymbalta with my other meds including gabapentin I was ableto walk better. I took a few months of PT that helped some. I couldn’t imagine a 13 year old going through half the FND issues I have had. Seems heartbreaking! Can you give any back story? When did this happen?
