I'm back to walking without having to rest for the rest of the day to recover. I can walk about an hour and be ok. It's not perfect, but neither was the serious quick weight gain and the severe muscle weakness. I'd like to avoid future atrophy and try strengthening my left side again, but I am terrified of doing too much. Right now my mind and body say I'm perfectly fine and I can do anything. Later FND can decide to say, watch what I can do to you and send me into a full episode or a bunch of tiny ones. I hate the fear that comes with this condition the most. Triggers and symptoms never stay the same for long so I can never say, well I know for sure I can walk an hour and nothing will happen to me later, because that wouldn't be true. After many years I'm pretty sure excercise and sensory are my biggest triggers and that sleep often help the symptoms calm. Other than that it's living life prepared with plan A, B, and C incase an episode happens. I guess that's life in general though, but on the daily?

Yes the unpredictability is the worst thing about this disorder. It causes us to lose our self confidence and it raises doubts to other people wondering how you can walk one minute and not the next and then back to walking again.

Trying to figure out how to easily explain it....sometimes I just lie and say it's an injury, especially to strangers. It's just easier that way.
