Hi,I'm new here,my autistic daughter was diagnosed with FND in October 2021,so this is all relatively new to us.I had never heard of FND until the diagnosis and have been very disappointed by the lack of understanding/knowledge of NHS professionals and the lack services available, although the experiences are all too familiar with what we experience with autism.
I'm wondering if anyone else has found treatment's which aren't in a clinical, intensive approach-this approach is just too traumatic for my daughter, she can't tolerate the sensory difficulties of being in a hospital/clinical situation. So we're going to look outside the box for different therapies/treatments.I would love to hear other people's experiences with different treatments.
Has anyone tried hypo therapy with success? We are about to start neurofeedback with a psychotherapist-uses EEG to get the nervous system back into harmony when it's become dysregulated. It's a non invasive treatment that retrains the brain,it sounds good but wondered if anyone else has tried this before?
I just wanted to add that I am so incredibly proud of how my daughter copes with this debilating illness, and that goes out to every person with FND,the fight you put up with daily with this incredibly complex, painful illness is incredible and only made harder by the lack of understanding and inaccurate&outdated beliefs of medical professionals.I think you are all amazing and you should remind yourselves of that everyday xx
