Hi, husband a new member of "bag for life" crew! Just wondering if other members have any red hot tips for holidays and travel. Problems that may arise with sand, heat, travel delays etc.had a few tips like using a pillowcase and safety pins ( to attach to bed)instead of a night stand. Cheers

Hi...in hand luggage have spare supplies and clothes but travelling is fine...I find in the heat and sweating bag tends to need changed more often...but that's mostly while doing gardening ... I'm sure a leisurely holiday it won't be so bad...also have you a disposable bed pads to take...also use hopefully small bin to keep night bag in at night... I always keep mine in a basin now after forgetting to close end of bag once and urine all over the floor...anyway enjoy your holiday both of you

To avoid overpriced insurance, I declare cancer but state I do not want it covered. If you are have a holiday under say a month, you will not want or need, to be treated for cancer while you are away.

I use general travel insurance, without cover for my bladder cancer. But in Europe i always take out a swiss assist policy (about £20 for 2 week holiday). This will give you a medical plane with a medical team to repatriate you and your partner home to a hospital, if you need a stay in a european holiday. However, you can only get cover if you have a critical illness, which we have and have not had chemotherapy or radiotherapy in the last 2 months.

I buy wonderful bags from Aldi and my overnight bags go in them and then on the floor. They are the bigger and the strongest and have only ever had one accident whilst putting my storage bag in one of these.I traveled to America last year and experienced only two incidents .Now I know what to expect. I will be travelling from Australia to England in October 2016.
