To me it is a great book for BAT and prostate cancer. It is more for reference and many different protocols of BAT in different PCa stages. It is also excellent for every conceivable BAT drug with half lives and pathways for those drugs. It doesn’t read as a story but more like a manual so no fluff.

Also references all the clinical trials with links

I highly recommend spending the the few bucks.

Thanks for your input, KP... for those looking for a cookbook, this sounds promising... KINDLE ONLY...

For some, this patient's guide by Denmeade and Antonarakis could be a good starter:

onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...

Everyone is responsible for their own razzle dazzle play n=1. For me, it is something that I would consider as a possible addition in my razzle dazzle mdt bootleg.n=1..... I watch and see what works, and what doesn't... and add.... combination approach works...

Ahhhh, the Science.... (and the n=1 do count).... In medicine, it is called a patient case presentation... lol... anyone presenting today??

KP,

Ummm, apologies !!! I did not mean you for the presentation as a direct question, but thank you.... it is good that people looking at doing BAT have some real live example(s) , since waiting for the completion of a Phase II/III is literally a life time for some of us..

Kudos, amigo

I highly recommend this book and I have reviewed it on Amazon. Buy the Kindle edition because it has online links to the reference medical journal articles. I know Russ, and he is a serious PCa warrior. He has been updating tHe contents of the book as his own situation changes and adding to the reference information. It is one of the best books that I have seen from a PCa patient about his own situation and applying BAT in the DIY setting. You will not get a lot of support from the medical establishment who adheres to SOC protocol, so Russ’s book offers good clear guidance. He is not offering medical advice. He is simply telling other PCa gents what he has been doing.

Thanks for the input, my friend...

The essential case presentation by the patient, as opposed to the physician... we are in unknown territory/ early stages in regards to specific biomarkers for BAT, and for HSPC, because of the way medical research is geared, this is the final frontier, and everyone is their own commander... Waiting for the science is 10 years away most likely... the FDA and their slow a-- ways... mother of pearl...

I already know that my urologist is dead set against BAT. Maybe I need to read this book to learn more about it. My life, my choices.

Everyone travels their own path... I wish there were biomarkers for who benefits and who doesn't, but the Science is lagging behind on how to utilize the answers for the specific patient population. We are at the beginning of things... frustrating...

Right with you partner.... I will be telling my own tale of the search for El Dorado (a long remission/cure) ...Going into year 7 for this journey....I will put up my path when I get done writing my next post on Resistance... I kinda owe it to KocoPr after he put up his results... I asked him who would n=1 case present next, and he just jumped up and did it... Kudos to him on a popular post... and then Ichthus316 posted his path... If I don't put up my own path, then I am weak... Oh, the shame to be found wanting in the eyes of the forum... But,....on to Resistance...

Last year, I read a pdf version of Russ’ book from cover to cover. I read the chapters on BAT twice. His well-researched knowledge and insights gave me the understanding and courage I needed to try my own n=1 pBAT program, where I have recently begun cycle #3. (I hope to post 2nd cycle results on this forum soon.)

For hormone sensitive PCa guys like us, this is the only option because BAT is available only for castrate resistant men within clinical trials. Yet there are a number of HSPC men doing BAT, in part, because its mechanisms have the potential to delay (or even reverse) CRPC.

I highly recommend Russ’ book. An online version should be available if you join the facebook group he started (although he has suspended making new posts there):

If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be doing BAT. About to finish one full year with excellent results. I just made a post today on this forum with 5th 6th and 7th cycle results!

I'll look for it. Thanks buddy. Keep it up. We need to take care of ourselves. MOs certainly are important as are researchers. I use both liberally. But in the end it is our cancer and our lives. My definition of QOL is different from most others.

Just saw it. Your implementation is excellent. Please continue to post your results. I try to send updates to an interested MO (Denmeade).

Feel free to continue sending my updates to Denmeade. I already copy Denmeade on all my correspondence with my MO (Dr. McMinn). He was kind enough to reply once a few months ago and was encouraging about my program.

PCaWarrior profile image
PCaWarrior in reply toIchthus316

Good to hear. Denmeade is very interested in our n of 1 stories. He's gathering data on propionate BAT and other variations.

I have around a dozen or so various cases. Propionate based BAT has performed much better than cypionate based BAT across the board. That is hardly conclusive proof but it does make me feel better seeing data from other guys.

One of them had a PSA over 900. He did a three month ADT lead-in and then started pBAT. His PSA dropped to 2. He's on his 3rd year and I think his nadir PSA is around 5 now. His MO was skeptical at first but now is a pBAT fan.

I second that! If it wasn’t for our fellow PCa warrior i would be a miserable b#%€ch, or worse,,, going through the drug resistance protocol! Yikes

I316,

Thanks for the reply and information... We look forward to your post, and appreciate your willingness to share...

As I love to say, we are at the mere beginnings of things in the golden age of oncological research and getting answers...

Long live the Science !!!

Glad to see Russ publishing the information as sharing information is key to many patients chosing their paths, especially those looking for alternatives to SOC!

I remember the scant information available just a few years ago in regard to BAT, but today how it's grown and how comparatively there are also multiple studies happening today when not too long ago could be counted on one hand.

Of course the most difficult thing is and will be trying to identify and discover which patients would most benefit from this path... But as with all things in life, it comes down to choices, and we should be free to chose as we wish, not just those hardened and entrenched SOC methodologies as our treatments.

All good stuff!

Thanks for posting :)

Mr C,

Indeed, it is great to see him be a guide to others on BAT.... This unknown territory is just n=1, and understanding the tenets on BAT, because there is nothing more in MHSPC... Good for him...

Sadly, he proved to be "way too dangerous" to the powers that be, and was eliminated... Such a loss of knowledge... Was he trolling?? not that I know of... No, a far greater crime.... presenting an alternative to SOC... Sounds like someone that has been supporting SBRT/MDT for years, and stayed just within the dangerous zone limits...

Agreed. My cancer is my cancer and my life is my life. I don't expect everyone to make the same choices I have made. Heck, that'd probably make me want to do something else 😳

studied it carefully and applied it to my BAT regimen for substantial refinement. Russ is the most knowledgeable in applying pharmacology to BAT. He is currently taking time off from forums.
