A study of nearly 6,000 healthy older Americans with an average age of 68 found those who followed the Mediterranean or the similar MIND diet lowered their risk of dementia by a third.
Short for Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay, MIND focuses on eating at least six servings a week of green leafy vegetables such as spinach or kale, and at least one serving a day of another vegetable.
Plant based fruit, berries, vegs. nuts, grains and leafy greens.... it’s likely that a combination of factors are working “synergistically together,” he added, “such as reducing inflammation, increasing protective antioxidants, and supplying the brain with brain-healthy fats from fish high in omega-3s – like wild salmon – as well as monounsaturated fats from extra-virgin olive oil.”

I fail to see why there continues to be this back and forth??? The deniers are either right or wrong, but perhaps unconcerned with living longer if it requires eliminating pleasures . THe studies are overall questionnable , but id such and such diet would have no proven negative consequences, diet away I say. Just don't try to beat people on the head with your certainty??? The "food police" ???? My Mom criticized my Dad for his extra 20-25 pounds and the ice cream he enjoyed as he entered his 40s.......talking with the neighbor , he said " I may die earlier, but I'll die happier"......no diet, but outlived Mom by 4 years...85 vs 81. He did end up with quadruple bypass, so there's that.
absolutely agree… my question is, where is the bully boat with you all, ready to mock you for your belief in proper nutrition, and supplements to improve you prostate cancer outcome. It may be your presentation that stops those slings and arrows coming your way, I just don’t know.
apparently! Few minds are changed...if any.....I forget exactly what I said re my Dad...justified?? he did make it to 85......and lots of goodies, though he just naturally slowed down consumption with age, and incredibly skinny, ie 165-170 vs 200-220 for many years...changed bigtime after bypass.....he may have intentionally watched what he ate after that, but never mentioned such an intention, if there were one? we reversed roles!! Imho, I don't see much mocking here...unless being unwilling to follow someone else's advice is seen as mocking that person???
Maybe some folks truly believ e that posting diet studies will chaange one or more person's habits? who knows? It goes both ways...a number of fans have said very derogatory things about men who won't follow!! not exactly the way to win friends and influence your enemies.
