As a follow-up to my previous post, here is an older brief MPT interview article that discusses several areas where advances in PCa treatment are making it from research into practice - and the increasing challenges for clinicians to keep up. Some of the interview discussion topics and those in the linked abstract relate to and confirm the information in several previous posts by Npfisherman.
From the article:
"Therapeutic options for advanced prostate cancer are rapidly evolving, making it challenging for clinicians to apply clinical trials results to daily practice, noted Nataliya Mar, MD, of the University of California Irvine . . ."
Great article....interesting reading...keeping up with the developments is hard and with new drugs and treatments coming.... The Golden Age of Oncology Research is here...
KEEP THEM PEEPERS OPEN PEOPLE !!!... okay....rant over...
The real take home messagein the one article is that treatment is evolving so quickly that we must take charge of our own situations... If you seek treatment, send research to your MD a week before your visit to insure that they are up to date on what you seek. Sitting back and depending on your MD will result in hopefully getting SOC, but no guarantees even for that to happen. Reading posts of people that are started only on Lupron is just saddening... STAMPEDE results came out in 2017... Knowing the sequencing of treatment is essential for survival. As more information becomes available on genetic mutations, the strategies for treatment will evolve.
