What should I expect to see PSA numbers after SBRT treatment?

Hi mike2344
It depends on when you had the SBRT before the PSA test.... also, if you are on ADT or not... For me, I was on Lupron, Zytiga and Prednisone for 6 weeks before having SBRT... I went from 0.23 to < 0.03 in 6 weeks post SBRT...
Initially, if no ADT, then I would expect an upward spike because of PCa cell death from the SBRT in the first 6 weeks and a drop afterwards...
Because your profile is not completed, I can not be sure of your current drug regimen or history. Please let us know if you are oligometastatic ( < 5 lesions) and if that is why you had SBRT or if it is because of a spinal lesion...Also, if you could include where your lesions are located and we will answer you...

Hi Don,
Thanks for your response. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in Aug'18 with a Greason of 4+3 with 4 cores of 60% cancer (1 Core at Right Apex (D) and 3 cores at Right lateral anterior Pz (I). I finished 5 sessions of SBRT on 10/15/18.
Here are my PSA numbers:
10/19/19 (2.03)
7/19/19 (1.91)
4/16/19 (2.58)
1/21/19 (3.80)
10/19/18Finished SBRT treatment at UCLA
8/29/18 (7.84)
Any more comments are appreciated.
Mike
Mike2344,
So if I understand correctly, you had SBRT to your prostate....you still have your prostate... and you are not on ADT... Is that correct?
There remain several questions...
1) Did you have a bone scan and CT scan before doing the SBRT or did you have the Axumin PET/CT scan before doing the SBRT?? The reason that I ask is because the Axumin scan is much more effective at picking up metastatic lesions than the bone scan or the CT scan... I had the bone and CT scans when my PSA began going up post robotic prostatectomy..and they were negative... My Axumin scan was positive for 1 lesion on my clavicle and that was when I started ADT and later had SBRT...
2) Have you had any recent scans--if so, what scans did you have and what did they show??

Hi Don,
I forgot to mention that I had my SBRT at UCLA.
Mike
My prostate specialist doctor in California did not recommend ADT and I personally felt the risk of side effects may not be worth it. So, I decided not to get ADT. I decided against surgery early on.
