Suspected RA or MCTD

Hi all,

I have only recently been referred to a rheumatologist despite having certain symptoms 3 years ago. My last blood test was Positive 1.320 Ana speckled - Negative ENA antibody and normal DSN DNA, these are exactly the same results as the tests done 3 years ago where "everything was normal". The only symptoms I appear to have and have had are sore Achilles tendon (told it was tendonitis) and sometimes quite severe abdominal pain - once or twice a year and just this last week light joint pain in my knees, hands, elbows and shoulders. I also sometimes have a dry mouth but am also an asthmatic and to me this has been the norm due to my inhalers. I guess I'm writing this because I want to educate myself a bit more on what I can expect from here on out. I'm scared, Im worried because this may have gone un noticed by doctors for so long that there may be extensive damage done already. I have a young family also and am struggling mentally and don't want it to effect my day to day life with them. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have for me. X

Hi Laina! I hope your symptoms get better and don't get any worse from this point. Generally, RA symptoms involve swelling and stiffness in knees, elbows, ankles, fingers, neck etc., along with daily fatigue. I have seen some people get dry eyes and loss of appetite as well.

Good luck with the treatment and feel free to reach out for any advice :)
