Hydrotherapy is the best thing if it's available in your area.

I got my sessions through a physio and go every week now. At first I had 6 sessions with the physio in the pool and now I attend self help group x at £3 per session. It's great however you feel and keeps things moving.

I was taught a series of stretches years ago by rheumatology physiotherapist that are called conditioning exercises . They are very simple to do, and can even be done in your bed before you get up out of bed (where i do mine in the morning).

basically you are just very gently stretching out all the major muscles in your body. this is done by slowly and gently stretching out one arm or let at a time ... just stretch as far as you are comfortable - hold stretch for a second or two - and then relax. do this for each arm/leg and you can also stretch out hands/fingers/feet etc. do same with spine - imagine a thread pulling your head up as you lengthen your spine and hold a gentle stretch.

i do them in the morning, and also throughout the day whenever i feel any muscles tightening/stiffening up. If i can find an online link that explains it better i will share. xxx

Hi Pugwash80, On the days that I can actually move I do some gentle yoga, not the complicated ones just the ones that gently stretch the body. I do them in the morning when I get out of bed.

The NHS Choices website has a series of links from its Fibromyalgia pages to these exercises

They are very similar to the ones I was taught on a Pain Management Programme at Leicester for Fibromyalgia patients.
