Hi Pippajo I have Never had this particular medication but if you go on the mother site and put in symptoms and treatments you should find some information on there.

fmauk.org

I hope this helps I am so sorry to hear about your back problems I do hope you find some useful information on there.

If not can I recommend going back to your GP for some advice. It is always better to get a professional opinion. Come back to me if you need more information and I will do my best to answer your question.

Good luck my friend

Hi pippajo19

I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend and I take a very low dose of Nortriptyline but I have never experienced any problems with it.

The accompanying leaflet does list among it's side effects:

lower back or side pain

pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck

stiffness of the limbs

If your problem persists or gets any worse I would discuss it with your doctor as there are alternative medications available. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Is the nortriptyline to treat the back and leg pain or has this developed since taking it? I took it for years and main side effect was very vivid dreams and drowsiness in the morning.

Hi,

The nortriptyline is to help with the pain but I am afraid of side effects!

I too am afraid of the effects- but I'm scared of the weight gain. 10mg has eased my fibro pains but I am bloating up and have stomach cramps. Anyone tried a laser treatment to manage the pain? And if so can you give me some details please?

Sorry, my reply about vivid dreams was meant to be to @Newtali's post.

I can say that it's the only medication I've been able to tolerate.

Hey there Pippajo19,

I came off Tramulief in January after putting up with the side effects for many years, and my Dr suggested Nortriptyline, as it was supposed to be better in that way. However, the first time I took it, I developed really sharp pains in my lower back, which lasted throughout the night. At first, I thought it was a flare-up, but for the next two nights the same thing happened, so I have stopped taking them.

Wish you well. Sx :)
