Sorry if you are suffering with this and thankyou for bringing it up. I have this problem due to nerve damage, not sure if it is part of Fibromyalgia for others do get checked out by your GP. Wishing you all the best. Lou x

Hi cornish,

I am sorry that you are sufferring from this. Some med's can relax all muscles including the bottom. Fibro can also affect it too.

have you spoken to your gp or consultant? as there are things they can do.

Please consider editing your post to community as it will lock it and any replies. At the moment it can be read on Facebook twitter and by anyone on the internet. This means that many members will be reluctant to reply and share with you.

Hi cornish78

I am so very sorry to read that you are experiencing this problem, and I must admit that due to nerve damage that I have experienced this in the past. I would discuss this with your GP or Medical Specialist as there are many treatments out there that could help with this issue. I have pasted you a link to the NHS Choices cache on this topic:

NHS Choices Incontinence:

I think that you are very brave and to be commended for raising this, and I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Yep I have and I have also had tests and been told that I have a very active bladder and the only solution after several other attempts to stop it is believe it or not botox injections into my bladder To receive this treatment I had to prove that I was able to self catheratise as they say that the first 4 weeks can be a problem after the injection I failed on 4 attempts and they said that the only other option was a colostomy bag or to percivere with my problem which involves making sure I am 100% dehydrated if travelling outside and going to the toilet up to 8 times in the night.i have to say that I have been caught short on several occasions and if you have the same problems you have my upmost sympathies..

2005 had an op. cant remember what it was called, but basically just a hammock to lift the bladder (severe stress incontinence) success for a while, started steroids 2008-2011 which side effects are constant feelings of extreme hunger and put on lot of weight, still helps a bit + Duloxetine helps now. Hi join the club as it were! Fibro,Raynauds,MS, etc etc all effect the bladder as the bladder and bowels are on the end of the line as it were so anything up stream be it imbalances nerves muscle problems and many other things get fed down to them think of it just like an estuary near the sea like the Thames for instance miles upstream and many streams etc joining it so if say there pollution in one and another is Johnny never do well tipping rubbish in it and others are chucking bags/plastic etc in the river all the collects in the main river going to estuary and that's your bladder/bowels.

Yes fibro etc causes bladder/bowel problems as effects muscles/nerves etc and the bladder/bowel are smooth muscle tissue so like many find/found arms/legs/body hurts/aches well so does the bladder/bowel.

What happens take then bladder it starts to fill sends an impulse to brain and repeats reg so sphincter is squeezed tight(this gets lost in spine injuries) now the brain instead of thinking that's ok no problem senses instead "pain" as the nerves/muscles are feeling raw as your having a not so good day etc so then say's hey open up get it out quick so sends bladder into spasms.

I have it seems to lessen then return too sister has kidney problems from not emptying which is another thing you get found retained urine when checked.

there was a post from a lady that had kidney failure ended up in a coma over it on here.

The B&BF know about it.

Ive had Catheters (indwelling type)to manage it as with Raynauds too get so cold which makes it worse.

I can get from Quacks when need but uro didn't want me to use not sure how/what they expected me to use though as when asked about the condom type she said ugh don't want one of them!

I always use with a flo valve never on free drain as that causes bladder wall damage more plus i always use a belly bag when need a bag as works more like normal the bladder pushes urine out instead of draining out or walls get pulled into catheter just like hand over bath plug hole when emptying!

If your sensible and learn methods you can get on fine with one.

Ive have terry cotton diaper/nappies/pads or whatever want to call them some good ones esp for night time you can boost them too if need be wear with good pvc/rubber or urethane pants.Gary pants are good.

don't like or get on with disposables as A if front/side sleeper they don't work and B daytimes slump once wet C irritant from chemicals plus draw on your skin.

Have places to supply/make if anyone needs.

one i have found good esp for day time and fits discrete(inco nurse couldn't notice wearing) is the Bambinex adult ones all in one plus add booster pads and work very well wash quickly to have importers near me but a £250 i guess plus Georges bung(vat) minimum order but if a few needed could get an order together?

works out around £25 ish each inc booster pad shops charge £40 plus for smallist.

Ive had it where trying to stop going ended up clearing out whole stomach over an afternoon as had to hold it for a long while as no where to go even what i ate hours earlier so not laughing matter for many plus something to take seriously and please do mention to your doctor/specialist etc.

i also have spine/nerve damage and can go other way and just fill and fill up they did test when was having MS tests done and ended up with over a liter in there all i felt was a bit of a stomach pain.

I'm still waiting for Botox appointment myself.

But this is just another fibro problem to add to others and please don't be ashamed etc and if you use pads/catheters/or whatever it is just a tool to live your life by just like glasses/braces/crutches/false limbs/hearing aids/pacemaker/and many other things.

But if anyone needs help/info i was in the 21ccp when it was running(about catheters)plus in B&BF and few others places so picked up/know quite a lot on matters even my specialist say's how come you have so much knowledge on matter i learn and research things.just message me not sure what methods are on here as don't think can use our email addresses?

hope that's of some help.

But what ever you do don't go without fluid be dehydrated or you will end up getting very ill plus makes fibro worse as i found drinking more helped plus flushes rubbish out of your body

I am also bowel and bladder incont. but use adult disposable all in ones all the time. Cloth is simply too hard to deal with in public. I wear seni quatro briefs, 24/7's, Lille slips, etc. I always wear two pairs of plastic pants.

In particular, I use Gary active briefs. I also use abri fecal pads as inserts in my taped briefs. I don't expect my problems to go away. I generally have a bowel accident while asleep but can have them during the day also.
