What medication do you find personall... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
What medication do you find personally is most helpful in reducing the myriad of Fibromyalgia symptoms?
Please Note: Please accept my apologies for posting this poll again, as a member rightly pointed out some drugs names were accidentally placed within the incorrect medication group. As before polls are based on subjective responses however they often prove good starter for discussion
Thanks and apologies again
Nothing. Still hoping
Oops sorry, new to posting.
Is this the right place? Nothing works for me
I dont use ANY of the above as i have to have a clear head to drive and cant loose my licence as i have mobility issues( waiting for a hip replacement) i use 2 topirimate am 2 at lnchtme and 3 at 6 pm.with massage and acupuncture, and the Thecane on the trigger points. To disperse the lactid acid build up,yes it hurts, but afterwards. Feel like a brand new woman 22,50 from Amazon, better than being dependent on meds.AND i sleep like a baby afterwards!!!!!!
I’ve filled it in again, I don’t think my answers were changed.
None, I have had no change in medications as I was already taking those that would be prescribed for existing conditions.
Plus Naproxyn. Works well for me
I’ve tried all, except for the Opioids. Nothing seems to help me
Was put on HRT, after 5 yrs of suffering now I’m 90% better. I’d would suggest ladies of a certain age - get yr hormones checked!
Hi there. My doctor has just suggested I go on HRT to see if it helps as I am a woman of a certain age and have only recently been diagnosed with fibro but I haven't had my hormones checked. Could you tell me more about your experience. I am reluctant to start HRT because I also suffer from chronic migraine and am petrified that HRT might make my migraines worse.
Cbd
I have tried the Cannol massage oil, but no great help really. Better with the Magnesium lotion. I have bought some CBD drops, but not tried these yet.
Hi. Just a word of advice. When taking the c b d oil i would have a hot drink at hand for after u swallow the oil. I took water after my first dose and the taste of the oil is vile. The hot drink seems too help get rid of the vile taste. Hope you don't mind me commenting.
Amitripline, unfortunately is great but it piles the weight on and you feel depressed with the weight gain.
To be honest, my fibromyalgia is mainly ignored by doctors, I'm just left to cope and get on with it. I've tried other medications, but didn't like the side affects., so I stick to my Amitriptyline whether it's working well, I don't know. Also, I do have other medical illnesses I'm coping with at the moment. People cannot see fibromyalgia and always say, how well I look!
I find aloe Vera and 240 ml a day really helps me
I take Panadol, which is Paracetemol with caffeine but in liquid form. Also Brufen rub, but when my pain is so terribly severe, then I have found Serrapeptase enzyme a great help. It is natural, from the silkworm. I cannot swallow so have to take out the powder from the capsule and take it in increments during the day. It is not nice, but it is the only thing that works for me, to ease the pain and get some movement back. I have recently found that a Magnesium lotion helps in between the severe flares.
I have shelved almost all known drugs, as I am just too sensitive and allergic to them.
I haven't found anything to be very useful, to be honest.
I find Diclofenac helps most when pain is bad
I take Palexia 100mg every 12hours.
Horizant and Nucynta
I use CBD oil now. It completely relieves my pain along with an anitidepressant.
all the tablets above I am bad reaction to
I thought that Pregabalin wasn't helpful, that's until I started on a withdrawal programme. I was very slowly reducing and things were going well. I had reduced by 100mg X 2 daily. Great 200 a day less. So pleased. After a week or so, pain was really awful. I have other illnesses as well as Fibro. I also take other medications including Tramadol. It was agreed that maybe I increased my Pregabalin by 25mg X2 daily. I'm just about managing at that level. Not great, but what is?. I don't think that there is any medication that works totally. I just pray that one day, there's a cure at best, an effective medication would be a good start.
It doesn't take the pain away, only takes the edge off unfortunately...😒
I chose Gabapentin because it's the only one that I've had. It has seemed to help though.
I also take meloxicam. But I have osteoarthritis and scheurmanns disease as well, so these tablets are to treat all illnesses
I use paracetamol cos I'm allergic or have reactions to a lot of the others and hey if paracetamol are still working why move up the medicine chain.
there are no meds that can really take away the pain it's finding a combination of everything to ease your pain...
I don't think we will ever be able to get complete pain relief, i am happy with medication that makes it bearable, as I'm sure is every one of us! We are made of strong stuff us fibro warriors.!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Candesartan for reducing pain.
i have started on Turmeric tablets in last month along with black pepper i do not take any other meds now and my pain has reduced significantly. stiffness is still there but not as significant as before.
I get "Bowen therapy " or "acupuncture ", diffene gel and diffene tablets and neurofen as needed...I also use a foam roller and heat for the aches.. I sleep and rest a lot as I had to give up my job. I have osteoarthritis and other health problems as well..it's a struggle alright..x
I take dhyrocodeine 60mg 2 a day and it helps but that's it tried lots of others but just made me woozy I work an have family so need to be, on the ball so to speak
Nothing has worked so far. Going to try muscle relaxants next. If the GP will prescribe them
Also take Lorazepam if required, and Nitrazepam for sleep.
paracetamol
A mix of opioids, tricyclics, gabapentin, diclofenac gels, CBD oil, and my stress ball. During the day just the gabapentin, CBD, gel, ibuprofen & stress ball have to make do since I drive to and from work.
I am trying more natural methods, despite my fibro being so intensely painful, that I can hardly bare to place my feet on the floor. Right now I am taking Turmeric and using a Cannol massage oil. My legs, hips and lower back are unbearably painful. I let you know if there is any help with these. I do take liquid Panadol and an occasional half a diazepam, but rarely.
Have swallowing problems.
I find gabapentin helps me, and solpadol x
curcumin, magnesium malate, magnesiun bis glycinate, vitamin d3, vitamin k2, fish oil omega 3, hyaluronic acid, accupuncture, to name but a few.
I found zopiclone helped with pain but not so much now as have to take every day and have built up a tolerance to it but can't get off it now due to the severe side effects
I find that only pregabalin actually comes near to easing the pain. But I hate the side-effects. I've gained 3 stones that I can't shift and also, my brain is scrambled. I have serious short term memory problems which are really getting me down. Discussed this with my GP last week and she suggested lowering the dose. Hope it helps.
I'm new to this forum and I'm very glad to find it. Thanks for the warm welcome and good wishes to all.
I have diazapam if the nerve pain and cramps get too bad, but I only take them at night, during the day I rarely take anything, if I do I take naproxin
I'm on Dihydrocodeine & Pregabalin which work for me,but it's the tiredness tho but no pain 🤷♀️
