If FibroAction brought out an awarene... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
I think purple would be better as it's international and some other charities use yellow (like the Marie Curie Cancer Care, etc)
surely if we have the same colour its easier to see another supporter/sufferer.
it foggies things otherwise.
Purple is definitely the colour - perhaps with a butterfly motif?
why not HALF the band yellow with purple writing and butterfly AND the other HALF purple with yellow writing and butterfly??
i agree with you will look lovely i wear a yellow now for srep b support love diddle
hi diddle :),iv suggested a rainbow type band cos people of many colours have Mr fibro and we all should have a little rainbow in our life and that maybe it could be the new sign of hope.....but thats just my thought lol...what ever it turns out to be it will be for us all.how are you, still lvyour name,lv and fluffy hugs fm me xx
I love this idea... or white with a purple line around.. oh and a butterfly.. x
The rainbow is an international symbol of the gay and lesbian community and as pretty as it is, i for one would not want people to think I was promoting myself as a lesbian!
The UK colours are Yellow with Black dots. This should continue to be used, it has nothing to do with people preferring another colour. The origional UK colours are eye catching and memorable and that is what awareness needs! I've been using it for years.
I say Yellow with black spots as it the UK colours, however the local support group provided us with car sticker ribbons in purple, even though I pointed out the UK colours were Yellow & black spots. I think we struggle with enough with Fibro without the colour issue. If we're in the UK use the yellow & black spots.
I think purple as I feel its a more unisex colour....
Purple is my 'feel good' colour and always lifts my spirits for some mad reason.
I'm from New Zealand and us kiwi's are world renowned for wearing black, however I'd prefer to wear a purple wristband as it's the international colour for fibro.. I really like Nikki's comment about using the butterfly motif as that would really make it stand-out and unique... great idea..!
Hi Mike, nice to know that a fella from New Zealand is following this site.Reading the blogs and questions I fell a bit old for the majority of ladies here., so another fella is good.
I must say while I am writing this that the All Blacks have given me a lot of pleasure over the years. Maybe, god willing, I will get to visit your beautiful counrty
I think purple for the international colour and also its a good colour for the 'bruised' feeling we get
Interesting results so far!
Yellow with black dots was chosen by another national charity years ago just to be different (the international colour was already purple). When we started up FibroAction, those colours were being used by a few campaigns, so we used the colours, but went with our butterfly logo instead of polkadots on everything.
In the years since, more and more groups have started using the international purple because it is an easier colour to wear, find ribbons for, etc, etc.
If its a FibroAction wristband it should be Yellow with the Black Butterfly FibroAction Logo.
Yellow is the colour in the UK. Black dots look like a lurgy!
Purple with a butterfly motif!!!!!
Definitely purple with a butterfly. We should all be the same no matter where we are from x
I think purple has now become the colour everyone associates with FMS so we should go for PURPLE...xxx
Purple with butterfly motif...xx
Definately purple with black writing or a butterfly motif. xx
Purple with Butterflys please x x
Purple is the Lupus band that has been out for years. I think it has a butterfly on it as well.
I am not sure people are reading you DebbieC, but it is a shame someone has got there first! Can you think of an alternative?
Personally I sewed butterflies of many colours onto a car seat cover and covered my scooter seat. Made me feel much more positive even if I look eccentric!
How about a butterfly badge, swallow tail with F and M charms attached? Make people ask what it represents as then we get a chance to explain!
Black and yellow - would match my bruises I get after numerous bumps.
OR how about blue? - because fibro often leaves me feeling blue!
Hi yellow with black dots...why change a good thing we in the uk all know what it is and have spent along time educating people to this ?
Why go all American?
Yellow is bold bright and unisex... men and butterflies not sure my footie man would do that ???
I think yellow as its FMA UK colour but with purple writing cause thats the international colour!! Just my opinion, anything with fibromyalgia written on would be good
I think purple. And butterflies are beautiful & peacful! To those saying the yellow with black spots- I have NEVER seen one on anyone and if I had wouldn't have known what it meant. Think if they have purple ribbons, then perhaps the matching bands? But as purplerainbowcat has just said, anything with Fibromyalgia on it,( writ LARGE) would be good.
I think as Uk marketing of all things Fibro is yellow why confuse people? Its bad enough getting Fibro recognised not to bring another colour scheme into Uk
It should have writing on to bring awarenes, otherwise only other fibro people would know what it is for.
Where and when will we be able to purchase these
As I know a manufacturer who could do this for around
About £1 per wristband.
I think Yellow as the main colour with FMS in Purple and 18 Purple dots to represent the pressure points and for a sufferer of Fibro. Or the colours could be the opposite way around for a person who supports the Fibro cause.
I think purple the same as the International colour as will be reconised much easier for donations and for events
all the best
Bobby
both yellow and purple.......... uk is yellow and international is purple, so why not blend them to be one.
best of both worlds,
soft hugs x
why not HALF the band yellow with purple writing and butterfly AND the other HALF purple with yellow writing and butterfly??
you really like this idea dont you LOL
i think purple would be nice, some other charities seem to use yellow ,so just a straight forward purple i say !
I think the colours should be Black and Red. The reason i have for this is Black for our down days and Red for the anger because people do not see Fibromyalgia!
purple with yellow butterfly. it looks like everyone wants purple
Purple is my favourite colour. Purple & yellow with fibro logo on would be good
the butterfly is a means of escape
what colour would the printing be, if the choice was all purple?
I think it would be Purple with yellow as it would show very good in the night time, and could we have a Brooch. As i might not be able to wear it. as i have allergy to rubber. Ithink it is time we had sumethink.
I think purple and the idea of a butterfly is lovely and symbolic to Fibro.
I always thought it was purple . i do think it should be purple xxx
I think they should be purple with white mini clouds (for fibrofog)
please can i ask? does it have to be one of those colours on the chart ? i would like to see a wrist band with RED FOR DANGER- ORANGE A WARM COLOUR FOR COMPASSION- AND GREEN FOR KEEP GOING. i would do these 3 coulours in a twine so ir twirls around the wrist band . anyway just a thought xx
why not HALF the band yellow with purple writing and butterfly AND the other HALF purple with yellow writing and butterfly??
PLEEEEEASE let it be PURPLE WITH A BUTTERFLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think using colours for anger or danger are a positive message and being that most of the time we have to try and stay positive to get through the days and help each other, we should use calm or bright colours. Not black either as it's not really soft enough. I like the butterfly idea but are men happy with this idea?
Just my thoughts
Purple with a yellow butterfly and writting would be nice.
Definitely purple with a butterfly. Perhaps the yellow could be incorporated into the butterfly to identify Fibromyalgia! I agree with Motzie, also include the word Fibromyalgia.
Purple and you could do the writing in yellow
purple with yellow fibromyalgia and butterfly after word.
Purple with a butterfly is already used for the Lupus band. Theirs is available in different wrist sizes - maybe something you need to think about.
PURPLE IS THE MOST POPULAR COLOUR WITH A BUTTERFLY ..HIS WINGS WILL HELP US FLY ABOVE THE PAIN'`` LUV & GENTLE HUGS
Why not Purple with yellow writing, that would be far enough away from Marie Curie, but would still include FA's yellow, or how about Purple with yellow dots, for the same reasons.
how about purple with a swallowtail butterfly which is yellow and black in colour
I think purple with a yellow butterfly or yellow with a purple butterfly both would look good, you could also add a little trail of black dots from the butterfly to make it look in flight and there you go its using all the colours!!The butterfly would make it look more personal as us fibro's would like to have the freedom of the butterfly and I think they make people smile
Sorry to be a killjoy but I think braclets like ribbons are over exposed! What about somthing complelely diferent like a butterfly badge?
Like this idea. I love the daffodils for instance for Marie Curie and everyone knows about that.
How about you ladies thinking about something a guy might be happy to wear also.... I mean I get the butterfly thing but it might attract unwanted attention. I'm not being homophobic, far from it, just being practicle.
Good point. How about a removeable butterfly on a link which encompasses the bracelet but not wealded so could be prised apart?
I just like something to wear FMS and proud ... where do we get them from ??
I bought one of the 'Fibro Sucks' T-shirts in size XL from the Fibro Action website. I really like it and it's great quality, but I'm going to have to lose about 2.5st to get into it. It comes up very small on size, I would say it might just be a size 14 if you're lucky. They have a whole range of products.
purple with yellow butterfly
purple, the international colour with butterfly
try deep blue with strong yellow wording - stands out brilliantly - try it on your 'notepad'
Purple with butterfly and the swallow-tailed one is a good idea
jade green or aquamarine because they are healing colours and if you want to add purple writing cos its the fibro colour luvly.xx
black with purple writing will get noticed
In the UK purple is used for another couple of awareness campaigns, anit-bullying I think, and LGBT awareness. Yellow is used for cancer awareness though so yellow and black, although the UK Fibro colours, may get confused with other campaigns........ what about a neon colour? Just a thought. x
i think the band should be many different colours because it affects mant people of different colours.something like a rainbow because people with FM should all have a little rainbow in there life, maybe it could be the new sign of hope xx
Slight problem with this is the Gay society already have claim on this! I wanted a tabbard in multicolours and found this out. As I am not, I could not get it.
hi yeah i think possible purple with rainbow butterflies as we do have a variety of health issues going on.. or even if was white with rainbow butterflies ..black is slighly morbid we need that brightness ..some illnesses share the same colours and can be confusing, so has to be something that shows we have a variety of problems along side FM .so rainbow is good idea ! ;-D xxxxxx
Black with yellow Butterflies
Sky blue pink with a finnie annie border as my old Granny used to say.
in my minds eye fibro is orange/red but i rhink purple with yellow butterflies x
All ideas sound great, not sure bout the black colour, feel down enough as it is. all i would like to no is When Where n How can i get 1 of these???? xxxx
I believe Purple would be the most suitable as FM is not limited to the UK but is international and if it is to be taken seriously, that ought to be known! Thank you.
If it is possible for a yellow and purple bracelet twisting around and blending a little as they join? It is a shame but many choices are already taken. I have just read the 94 previous messages.
I don't wear a bracelet myself as it makes me itch, but I do wear supporting badges/broaches if they are pin and clasp not button and clasp style which hurt as they are like pin tacks when their backs are off!
A butterfly or just the initials FM on a round button using the UK and international colours would open the chances for questions and answers. I also think it should have style about it to encourage more continuous use by those still working!
A butterfly symbolises hope and freedom, the colours are our support groups, so a yellow butterfly on a purple background would be striking, the opposite available too as the more who buy, the more who know more! We can live in hope.
OoooOoOO Purple with yellow butterlies or purple and white? why yellow? silky ribbons xx
I'm thinking... maybe yellow with black dots? and then bold purple handwriting type font overthe top of it. Or would that be a little too bright ? Sometimes we have to think more is less. But I've got loads of ideas popping in.
Or Maybe, overall purple, and then a separateband with yellow and black dots, in a sort of curving ribbony shape? Writing could be purple or white. (possibly overlaping the two designs). I've been thinking about this poll and have had loads of ideas popping in & out of my head. But I thought something like this.
Or maybe purple, with yellow/black polka dots. The yellow dot could be larger & have a black blot on the inside. (or viceversa, or both).
Or maybe the over colour could be purple, w/ big bold block capital writing decorated yellow, and black polka dots. (think Word Art). Yeah that could work. Maybe even have a tiny silhouette of black butterf
ly next to it (for added decoration). (or a little ribbon shape, or both either side? That could look pretty). Love all the ideas so far. If I have anymore of my own- will keep you posted. wanderingwallflower xxx
I like the purple idea, but whatever colour it is i want one asap! Will be proud to wear it and it will help us fibros identify one another!
I don't think anyone has been reading my previous posts on this! The LUPUS wristband that has been selling for years is PURPLE with a BUTTERFLY so one for FIBRO needs to be different!
i love the idea of a purple butterfly badge, with the words FEEL FREE TO FLY ABOVE THE FOG!!!!
I've been thinking...
perhaps the band should be clear/see through- to symbolise the invisibility of the condition and its lack of awareness. It could be decorated with merely a small, single butterfly (yellow w/ purple/black dots?) which stands out as hope. This will make the band unique and hopefully lots of questions will be asked about it. Writing could be engraved or standout too. Or I'm also thinking the colour grey to symbolise 'fog' - fibrofog or general lack of understanding about the condition. Loving all the ideas so far. xxx
i don't mind what colour, but would like half a dozen, as i so easily misplace things.
I agree Would love to see purple with butterflies on.Copied from above like the comment "A butterfly symbolises hope and freedom, the colours are our support groups, so a yellow butterfly on a purple background would be striking, the opposite available too as the more who buy, the more who know more! We can live in hope."
Lots of good ideas here, glad I don't have to make the final decision!
I live in rainbows, clothing wise, so am biased in favour of that idea! I get lots of positive comments about brightening up a place so it gets lots of notice, but as the gay community have beaten us to it, it's not an option sadly.
I really like the clear idea too, it's different.
Would a purple band and a yellow with the black dots band, entwined around each other be workable?
I can't wear the bands either but my son has never removed his End Poverty Now white wrist band, he's 13 and it must be the cleanest thing about him
Maybe not such a dark purple as the international one, more a violet colour, with yellow writing.
What ever colour it ends up being, it cant be beyond manufacturing capability to include the writing in Braille as well as being printed on the band?
well peeps i said yellow with black dots but in all honesty it doesnt really matter so long as its eye catching and can be distinguished from other support groups. there are so many different bands around these days its hard to tell which is which from a glance. would it not be better to find a different kind of band or bracelet to distinguish us sufferers because lets face it how many of you even knew and heard of fibro before you were diagnosed,i certainly never heard the word till then. we need something different so people will ask what it means and not just look at it as yet another coloured band. this is just my thought but your feedback would be appreciated. soft hugs DEBBIE xx
purple with a butterfly motif would be my personal choice
I think purple with yellow butterfly and if any writing is used that should be black
it would be brilliant if we could have a pearly mixture of white and lilac with dark purple writing to signify the brainfog of fibro.
I really don't mind what colour I just want to be able to buy one
purple.
what about a multi coloured butterfly ? were needing handled gently like a butterfly and the multi colours are representing the pain everywhere on our body and not just one single place xxxx
One with a push button that shouts I have fibro and yes I am ill
Giggle... Id buy that.. x
Red. The colour of our fury & anger at the little done to help, understand and support our suffering.
Black and White - they stand out, they can also represent how FMS can take the colour out of your life, but although there is a dark side, the black there is also hope in the white, either for healing or new opportunities of a different nature to develop.
Colours of the Rainbow with a butterfly or not dont mind...Rainbows signify the path between heaven and earth... gods promise... hope, courage pot of gold... and its very healing colours... OR White.. white is the whole colour spectrum... white with perhaps a purple band... unifying international and home. x
They already do, it's yellow with black dots. My Son wears his all the time.
Thats a hard one . It should be multicoloured because of the multitude of symptoms. How do I get hold of this yellow one with black dots? I would wear mine all the time too.
the americans use purple
Purple would be good; this needs to be recognised across the world. It is sad that in the UK we seem to lack the support from medical professionals; I feel that it is hit and miss being with a GP/Consultant who really cares about your condition. The NHS has awareness weeks for various things including the heart, smoking why not a Fibro Awareness week? Why not invite suffers to seminars or a meeting held by health professionals to support Fibro suffers covering local hospitals area? When can we have wrist bands available?
green for the grass and a rainbow of colours for hope, for hope is all we have
The butterfly is the symbol used by DeBRA charity which is a skin condition where the skins just falls off and causes massive sore patches all over the body, so I don't think a butterfly would be good. It would cause confusion between the charities.
I thought they already had a wristband?
Deff purple with butterfly motif.
