Chromosomal Mosaicism

Is anyone diagnosed with Chromosomal Mosaicism? Could it be a major cause of infertility?

Hi there, I’m not aware that this could be a diagnosis in itself. Embryos can be mosaic, but our consultant had told us that mosaicism typically occurs after fertilisation. Have you tested your embryos? All I’d say is that all of our embryos were mosaic, but our last transfer was with one of our low mosaic embryos and I am now 7 weeks pregnant. So don’t write them off!

That is very encouraging. Thank you for your response and congratulations with your pregnancy! My embryos are not tested. They don't test in the Netherlands. My husband and I had a blood test in Germany and they came up with this result saying that I have chromosomal mosaicism. We contacted to the lab to explain us how this result is effecting our embryos. I hope it is not a big issue. We have been ttc for more than 2 years now and feeling exhausted..

Thank you. I know how exhausting this all is. We’ve been on the journey for 3 years and it doesn’t get any easier. You just have to dig really deep & try to remain optimistic. After all, it is a numbers game. We had three failed transfers before this pregnancy and a miscarriage following a third IUI a couple of years ago.

I am surprised that clinics won’t do any PGT-a testing of embryos though. Perhaps inquire at other clinics? We only tested the embryos from our second IVF and they were all mosaic. I hope you can get yours tested. X
