Do fertility clinics put the best quality embryo first and keep the least quality embryo to the last transfer attempt?

Is the first embryo that they put is the best one?
They always start with the highest quality x
Maybe you could ask your clinic for for info on how they decide what ones to use for transfer? Ask if you can speak to the nurse/embryologist to help put your mind at ease

From my experience they start the transfer with what they have visually assessed as the highest quality. However, it is not an exact science because I have seen many examples of ladies on this forum who have had “top quality” embryos fail only to achieve success with lower quality embryos.
My NHS clinic said that's what they did whereas my private one didn't say, they just said good enough to transfer or freeze. But the transfer on the NHS of the top quality/first one ended in an early loss, as did the first transfer at the private clinic (which I'm guessing was a higher quality one of the batch we got), and it was the next one that worked, which may or may not have been assessed as good as the prior two. So transferring what looked like the best quality ones at day 5 definitely didn't correlate with success for us.
yes but the ‘best’ is just how they rate it visually/externally at that time, the one they think will have the best chance is they one they will use first. If they have any embryos good enough to be frozen then they are also good enough to make a baby too! It was our 4th embryo (so 4th ‘best’) that worked with no other changes to protocol so it’s also down to a lot of luck X
I agreed with my clinic that we would work backwards in terms of quality - I said mentally as these were my last embryos (no more collections - I’d done 5 and just couldn’t do it anymore!) I said psychologically I couldn’t cope with transferring the best first and it failing knowing what was left was lower. So we went “worst” first - clinic thought I was nuts by the way but agreed it’s my money my body my embryos 😂 - as it happened the 2 “worst” quality ones ended up as my twins and I still have my best 2 frozen 🙄
They usually start with using the best one/s. But it's best to ask your clinic how they plan to go about it.
