Hi all, I am new to this! My husband and I have been TTC naturally for 4 years and have finally gone down the route of investigations.
My husband has low sperm count and motility so we know that’s an issue but I have now been diagnosed with high levels of prolactin. I have been told I have to get this reduced before we begin IVF.
I have also been told I am not ovulating... I am still to understand whether this is due to the high prolactin.
Has anyone had this before? Does anyone have any experience on treatment for reducing prolactin.
Thanks all x

Do you know what your levels are? Mine were raised last year (1311) which turned out due to my thyroid. It was only subclinically raised so GP probably would have treated me if it werent for the fact we were doing IVF. I was out on a lose dose of levothyroxine which lowered my TSH from 4.96 to under 2. Have you had your TSH levels checked? There are medications that can be used to lower levels if necesary and are being caused by something else. Also when you are having your levels checked make sure they are taken around 3 hours after waking as your prolactin rises in your sleep and comes down again on waking.xx
I was once diagnosed in 2016 with high prolactin and given meds to bring it down. Can't remember the exact numbers.
As Cinderella5 said, might be a good idea to have the thyroid checked as well but high prolactin is treatable as its kinda like nature's own contraceptive for a breastfeeding mum, which I wasn't. Why it gets high and what causes it where a lady isn't breastfeeding, absolutely no idea.
