Hi,

Hass anyone had a successful Micro Tese after hormone injections?

We were told that my OH would need Injections, then nothing was mentioned. Had his Micro TESE and they didn't find anything. However, we have heard that the hormone injections can be a very successful treatment.

The hospital told us that his testestrone levels were very low and hormones high.

Anyone experienced any of these before?

Well my knowledge in this matter is only acqured from online digging.... including published scientific studies..... so you may or may not consider this canon. But I'm gonna put everything that I found relevant to your situation. TESE is meant to extract mature sperms if any in the lumen of the testes when the SA shows no spems or morphologically correct sperms. Naturally, if they did it first without hormone stimulation then they were just hoping to find existing matured sperms. Now they will put the effort to try can create some mature sperms though external hormones... so yeah it reasons to be a full-proof plan. A per stats says it's a pretty succesful regime for dealing with male infertility where non-obstructive azoospermia is involved. Wish you luck for the sucess with the hormone procedure.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I have sent a letter the the hospital stating that they did say he would need hormone injections, but for some reason had been missed.

So, hopefully they will consider it again providing it was their suggestion.

you're welcome! I think you made the right decision by writing it all elaborately to the hospital.... in case they have hormone therapy in their future process for you they will expedite on it I believe. Am no expert in the matter, neither do I know your DH's specific medical history so cannot say for sure but the hormone regimen works in male infertility and quite impressively. Only in genetic cases, where gene formation is responsible for the azoospermia which pretty much eliminated the chances of externally administered hormone to help in maturation of sperms... I think they don't use hormones and look for matured sperms if any in the lumen before declairing donor sperm conception is the only way. But as far as I read if they found it wasn't a obstructive azoospermia and not genetic either already they should have gone for the hormones first. I hope like the mitochondrial donation to revive egg quality soon there will be similar procedure for sperms to rule out the need and all resentment about donor conception.
