Evening All,

Just wondered if anyone has overstimulated on 25mg of Clomid and what the next step is / was for you?

Hi Poppy

Yes I did! I had so many follicles we were not allowed to TTC! Next step was they told me to cut the tablet in half to half the dosage. Went back for a scan and there were even more follicles! So they switched me to tamoxifen instead which worked. Will be interesting to see how you get on. Good luck!

Hi lovely, thank you so much for your reply. I justbwondered if there is an alternative as I felt got to ask what happens. Didbthey have to monitor you on Tamoxifen?/Hope you are doing ok and wishing you every success with your journey xxx

Yes they did monitor me with scans. I produced 1 dominant follicle so they were happy with that. As I am 40, I have since moved on and had 1st IVF cycle in October which gave us a BFP but sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. It gives me hope it can work though! Drs think I responded really well to treatment so I have hopes of achieving pregnancy on the 2nd round if I don't fall pregnant before, which of course we would love. Got to keep going and try to stay positive. Here to talk any time 😊

Thank you so much and i'm so sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancy. I do hope you are doing ok. In the whole time of ttc we have never ever seen a BFP. I have had a couple of hiccups along the way with investigations... Low progesterone, no spillage on right side with HSG (suspected spasm rather then blockage which is good) and then overstimulated on 50mg of clomid. So have been told to cut the dose to 25mg. Apparently there was 'alot' of activity on my ovaries so advised it was too high risk, also felt rubbish on meds. I'm worried i may overstimulate again and don't feel i can fully relax until i've been in for my next scan. As you say, keeping positive is an absolute must, it's hard some days though. Take care lovely, i'm also here to talk if you ever fancyba chat. My inbox is always open. Happy New Year xxx

Can I ask how to know when you have overstimulated? It sounds like you guys have had scans? I've just finished my 6th round of clomid - all have been unsuccessful, but my progesterone scores have been climbing each time (last month was 83) - and periods have been getting more horrible and clotty with it. I am now worrying about the impact of clomid. There's always something to worry about on this journey!

Of course lovely, sorry to hear you've had an unsuccessful journey with clomid. I feel like such a paranoid person but like you say, it feels like this jounry is a constant worry. I had a scan midcycle and was due for day 21 bloods but was advised to cancel as too much activity. So onto next round, waiting for AF to start so I can phone and book another midcycle scan and day 21 bloods. I was told that once i'm at the correct dose they no longer need to scan or take bloods until i get to 6 months and then we were told IVF is the next step. I'm worried that I will overstimulate again but trying to think positively. I do hope you are doing ok xxx

Thank you - I'm going to contact my clinic next week (new year plans and all that) and it really helps me to hear other's experiences to know how to pitch it!! Like you, I've been told IVF is likely next. It sounds like you are getting a thorough service now though and if the clomid isn't working, at least they will have that knowledge when you start the next step. Keep going and keep thinking as positive as poss xx
