Do you mind me asking you what your story is? This is my first icsi cycle and I love the success stories keeping me strong during this 2ww!
X
Thank you everyone
Cherrypop, we have been trying for about 8 years (a very long time). After lots of blood test and other tests for various things the doctors started me on clomid after 2 years of trying naturally, think I had about 6 cycles with clomid, which obviously didn't work. They then put me on tamoxifen for about 3 cycles which also didn't work. Our next option was IUI, we had 3 cycles of this with no medication, but we had breaks in between as it was so emotionally draining. The first cycle went like clock work, we got lots of eggs and my body was doing what it was meant to be doing at the right time, but unfortunately I started bleeding before the 2ww was over. The next cycle didn't go as well, it took my body ages to start producing eggs and then we didn't have many. We finally got there but again I started it bleeding before the 2ww was up. The next cycle was a total disaster and it had to be cancelled as my body just didn't respond at all. It was so devastating and we both decided we needed a break at this point. I think we waited almost a year before we started on our first cycle of IVF. I was put on a very high does of medication in the hope that my body would produce enough eggs but sadly this didn't work and again the cycle had to be cancelled. I felt like my world was been torn apart and everyone around me could just get pregnant so easily.
Our only option left was to use a donors eggs. We thought long and hard about this and we had councillors session to prepare us for the journey ahead. This process started in January when we finally got funding from the NHS for a funded cycle using donor eggs. In February we went to the clinic and met with the egg donor team and told them what characteristics we wanted from the donor. A few weeks later a got a phone call from the clinic saying they had found us a donor and did we want to go ahead. Of course there was no hesitation and we said yes straight away. Next i was put on medication to bring on a period and then started other medication to down regulate until the donor was ready to go. When the donor was ready I was put on estrogen tablets to thicken the lining of my womb. I went for a couple of scans one to make sure I had down regulated and another one to make sure my womb lining was thickening. The donor was put on medication to produce eggs and when she was ready for egg collection I started to take progesterone pessaries. My partner had to produce a sample the day of donors egg collection and then the donor eggs and my partners sperm were put together. We got five eggs from the donor, 3 fertilised but the other 2?didn't survive. The clinic phoned us everyday for the next 5 days to update us on there progress and we had one blastocyst put back on day 5. Another blastocyst was good enough to freeze, the 3 rd one made it to blastocyst stage but sadly wasn't good enough to freeze. Next came the dreaded 2ww. Then it was finally time to do a test this morning which was a BFP 😄
Wow that was a long post, hope you enjoyed the read, good luck with your cycle xx

That's great news.
We're going to go along the DE route so it's great to hear it's worked for you.
Yes best thing we ever did. We got 5 eggs from the donor and 3 of them made it to blastocyst stage, we had 1 put back, 1 was good enough to freeze but sadly the other 1 wasn't, but we aren't getting hung up on that. Good luck when do you start your journey pm27.
