Hi, I'm 45, having tried naturally and with hormones for 9 years. Anyone thinks its too late for IVF? Found out I have endo complications.
I am sure some Doctors would say it's too late but everyone different.
I think it depends on your horomone levels and antral follicle count. You need to do some tests first. I have heard of loads of ladies having IVF at your age - some using their own eggs, some using donor egss but the first thing you have to do is to get your hormone levels checked out first and then see where you stand.
Some people over 40 have ovaries of 25 year olds! It just depends on the individual.
Then you take the next step.
I would book some consultations with clinics who will take ladies your age - some clincs are anti older ladies because of their statistics - then take it from there.
@ JoyDivision Thanka a lot for the advice and encouragement. Horromone levels, I believe are low, hence the hormones, but I will still hope. Problem as you say is finding a clinic. I am undaunted though. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted, maybe I will encourage even one other reader someday.
I'm 40 years old had 3 failed IVF on NHS be for my 40th birthday been back to clinic I'm told it's my eggs are low grade because of my age my best chance is donor egg saying no rush and take my time there is no time limit on this. I think you are the only one that now's if it's right to carry on I'm not ready to give up all the best xxx ( been trying for 10 years ) xxx
Kat & Journey 1 I have low hormone levels but I'll give it a few goes before I get my head around donor eggs. However, I have to pay and I am going to try a European clinic as I'm doing IVF with a London NHS clinic at the moment and their attitudes are not as encouraging as other private clinics who offer bespoke treatment for oldies like me - LISTER, ARGCH and CREATE. I know ARGCH is really expensive and I can't afford it but there are some European clinics that offer the quality of ARGCH but at a third of the price. I've heard so many stories of people who have been told to give up and they don't. Do what you feel right. They don't know everything.
