Hi ladies first scan on Friday (I'll be 7 weeks) so I'm a bit ahead of myself what are your experiences with metformin/what does your consultant suggest? the clinic have said stay on it up to 12 weeks but my consultant who will be taking over my care once I'm discharged on Friday wants me to come off it.. which I'm not sure I'm comfortable with given I had a missed miscarriage at 6.5 weeks last time. Thanks girls

I've read also that metformin is beneficial up until 12 weeks into pregnancy . I am also wanting to know if it is a good thing to be on. X

Right had my scan at the clinic and they have said to stay on it'll until at least 12 weeks looking to review then with obstetrician and possibly stay on it thoughout. There's big research on it reducing the risk of miscarriage and developing gestational diabetes in women with PCOS. Hope this helps xx

I have the polysistic ovaries. (Lots of eggs but poor quality) i was put on metformin to improve my egg quality. I have never been symptomatic ie; weight/skin/hair etc. I didn't get diagnosed till I underwent ivf I did however go on the pill young which masked painful and irregular periods, I don't no if I ovulate or not as we also have male factor issues. there is lots of evidence to support metformin in pregnancy of women with PCO to reduce miscarriage and gestational diabetes. I am staying on it till at least 12 weeks.
