I had a transjugular liver biopsy. Stage 3. Doctor said they’ll see me in May. I have been encouraged to message through their portal any questions that come up.
Hi, i had AFIB, a mini stroke, glaucoma, had heart shocked 3x to get it going again, in and out of hospital for heart over 5 years; no issues with mini stroke/ glaucoma ongoing being looked at. Recently diagnosed with NAFLD/Cirrhosis, told inherited - age 74. Firstly because of severe side effects on every prescribed drug including blood thinners - went off all! Went off all eye drops for glaucoma - result currently no heart disease at last check up this summer - dr. said he didn't have to see me anymore. Glaucoma - stable, hasn't progressed. Aso used natural remedies. Recently diagnosed - 3 mos. ago with N/C, just had 2nd ultra sound, following vegan diet as before...which i'd stopped and think contributed to diagnosis - took back sugar; fried foods; luncheon meats - meat; - saw dr. yesterday...N/C (4th stage..which puts you into the cirrhosis category) no change; said i should live minimum 12 years - doesn't want to see me again until August. Feeling much better and back on track. She also said she see's 50% more patients now with NAFLD/C and feels comfortable its no longer a death sentence; can be stopped with food and exercise. Not advocating anyone take this approach it worked for me and for my husband whose Type 2 diabetes 'left'...he took no herbal remedies and his prostate cancer has remained 'gone' for over 14 years now which he gets checked yearly.
saw your introduction and your CHF caught my eye. I have cirrhosis related to my heart. I had right sided heart failure from massive severe tricuspid valve regurgitation. I also have left sided heart failure. Anyway, we thought the cirrhosis might be related to fatty liver but after testing done at Duke University, it was determined to have been caused by my right sided heart failure. It’s call Congestive Hepatopathy or Cardiac cirrhosis. I don’t anything about your heart failure but thought you might like to be aware that the heart can affect the liver.
I also had a tricuspid valve replacement almost 2 years ago. It has helped keep my cirrhosis stable and compensated. I follow a fatty liver diet to try and keep my liver in the best shape possible.
I have been on medication for years. I’m 71 and my first open heart surgery was at age 22 to repair my mitral valve. Then it was replaced seven years later. Had a pacemaker and defibrillator implanted 15 years ago and found out that the wires from those were keeping the tricuspid valve from closing properly. All the extra fluid was rushing back into the liver and slowly destroying it.
