I'm 5'5" and weigh 129 and trying to get into a semiglutide clinical trial which is the main ingredient in ozempic. I am not overweight or diabetic and do not have liver fat (202) but I do have stage 3 fibrosis. The testing is being done to see if semiglutide decreases liver fat and fibrosis. Desparately hoping it works on fibrosis as it has been shown diabetic medications seem to assist in decreasing fat and some decrease fibrosis. Hoping I do not lose more than 9 pounds on this medication if I receive the actual medication and not the placebo.

I'm trying to get one of those also. I've got a prescription but insurance is denying it. It seems so hopeless that there may be something that can get with this awful disease, but I can't get it. I do qualify as obese so that's my reason for the prescription. I'm 5 ft. 155 lbs

So what do you think caused the fibrosis?

I work I. Primary care. Same medication. Wegovy is authorized by fda for weight loss ozempic for diabetes. Your insurance may or may not cover. If it is in plan you need to have bmi over 30 generally. It does help weight loss but losing visceral fat, fat in liver not guaranteed. There is still a nationwide shortage so getting starting doses for first 4 month is extremely difficult. GI upset is real so be prepared. Nausea and constipation are generally the worst.

My heptologist just told me NOT to try any of the new fangled fads. He said to just eat veggies, lean meats, nuts and to exercise. My cardiologist concurred.

Your weight and height are just like me. I’m 69. I have NASH1 and also have Type 2 diabetes. My Hepatologist suggested I talk with my Endocrinologist about changing one of my diabetes meds to Ozempic with the hope it will also help my fatty liver. All agreed it was a good idea to try it. I’m only 6 weeks in so still in the tapering up stage. Will be returning to my diabetes doctor in October to verify my sugars are still under control and I’m tolerating the new med well. Won’t know if it’s improved my liver until I go back to my liver doctor next year. I have lost 2 pounds so far with minimal side effects. Time will tell if it helps my liver at all. I felt it sure was worth a try!

I am in a weight loss clinical trial for Mounjaro (tirzepatide) which is currently FDA approved for diabetes but not for weight loss. It works by suppressing appetite and cravings. I have lost about 70 lbs. in the last 10 months. However, I have also closely adhered to a liver friendly diet because I believe that the type and quality of food intake is critical to help the liver heal. There has been a dramatic improvement in my bloodwork. I am still waiting for follow up liver testing (Fibroscan) in November. I am anticipating a significant improvement from my initial F3/CAP 313 results.

So what does your diet consist of ? Some like the low carb/ no carb and some like the fruits grains and veggie option. Can you give me an example. And WOW !!! 70 lbs in 10 months is a miracle. Hope you show great improvement in your liver.

I also walk on my treadmill daily for 30 minutes at a moderate to vigorous pace and incline.
