Hi Everyone, there's a few posts I've seen online where people are confused about their prescription and what to do, why they have been prescribed so few steps etc. So I thought I would post and clear up some of the confusion.
1) Activity Minutes vs Steps
Your EXI prescription is based on 3 things:
a) Frequency - Number of times a week to be active
b) Intensity - Your ideal heart rate range while active
c) Time - the duration of your activity.
Depending on your prior conditions and activity level, you will be set a safe starting level for where you are starting. Your prescription will increase gradually over time to get you to 150 minutes of moderate activity per week. If you're already doing more than your prescription - that's BRILLIANT, well done! Don't let us stop you but feel free to continue tracking your activity levels with us and increase if you wish.
The step count is a suggested level based on the prescription level but we do recommend focussing on the activity minutes first and foremost. The prescription is the most important part!
2) Videos & Other Activity
With EXI, any activity counts. For people unsure where to start, we offer a suite of exercise types including some home video workouts to help you get started. But if you prefer to rollerskate, golf or garden, you can track that using "Other Physical Activity"
3) Tracking your health metrics
We recommend logging into the app once a week (ideally on Sundays) to track your health metrics on the "Health" tab. It isn't something that needs to be done every day - it's just a useful way to see how you are progressing on your physical activity journey. It's definitely not intended to take over your life - just 5 minutes once a week (or 11 if you do the 6 minute walk test that week!)
Hope that helps!
Sarah
