Potential Erythromelalgia diagnosis given by private consultant. Put on Aspirin for 5 days in August which did not help. Saw my rheumatologist yesterday and gave her a copy of the letter from the consultant re Erythromelalgia and she agreed to put me on Gabapentin - 300mg od for 3 days and increasing to 3 x 300mg daily. I just wondered if anyone else has been prescribed this and whether it made any difference? Now that the heating is on in the office I am suffering like it's summer!!

First of all, I'm very sorry you have to suffer with this. I also have erythromelalgia. I take gabapentin but was already taking it for small fibre neuropathy before I developed the erythromelalgia so I can't really say if it helps. One thing that does help me is I have a large cold pack that is a gel-type substance I put around my neck when it flares up. But mine is usually the face and upper neck area.

I was on Gabapentin (Neurontin), and couldn't wait to get off of it. It caused me to gain weight, couldn't remember anything, and I was so HOT! Just didn't feel good. I had to decrease it very slowly. But, it does help some people.

I'm taking Norpramin (tricyclic antidepressant) low dose before bed, 30 mg...and it helps me sleep. Also, use Lidocaine 10% compounding cream a couple times a day, it also helps. And, I just started taking CBD drops, and it helps too. I heard about another person taking CBD and she could walk without pain. I joined a support group called CBD Oil Users Group, lots of good info. It's a closed group, you ask to join. CBD is supposedly legal in all states, its marijuana without the high. Hope this helps you or someone.
